The JWs have a cart at the train station near my work and today they're featuring the April Watchtower and Awake magazines.

Have you seen these yet? Have the Society discovered the worldly technique of using attractive cover models to sell their products or something?

This makes me laugh... my assistant overseer at bethel was the black muscle guy on the slavery cover that had all the young ladies in our hall excited...

My sister actually kept that magazibe out for like a year. Maybe they are learning a thing or to

Who decides who gets to be in the photos? Must be a fun job.

A black person? On a cover? Not in the 1950s. Foreign Witnesses were Northern Europeans. I wonder what started the appearance of people of color. It was fun to see people in their foreign costumes from hundreds of years before. I have photos of the international convention at Yankee Stadium in the early 1950s. My parents evidently rounded up any foreign witnesses in costumes not seated. It was my favorite convention.

    I remember that magazine, Confused.

    Handsome bugger!

Skin, hair, and nails to die for.

I remember thinking, he's much too well-put-together to be a slave!

The ladies with whom I placed the mag all looked at him appreciatively - the men looked envious.

    LOL.

those models are just sisters, the same goes for the actors in the movies that are made by the society. Often they are bethelites.

The WTS started using prettier people in publication pics (I swear, I'm not spraying on my keyboard) in the late 90s.

I particularly noticed it at the time, because of the way they had previously portrayed (shit; did it again) young JWS who were held as "good examples" prior to that.

The prospect of aspiring to that degree of blandness had always made me kinda depressed, so I felt a measure of relief at the time.

Snowbird... if you saw his actual face your love for him would dwindle.

They purposely made him cover his face lol
