Well, back when I was active, I was a bit younger... but yes, we always got a group to go out after the memorial. Sometimes it was a simple outing, maybe a pizza parlor or similar, but then it got to be bars and late night joints. We traded the stuffy, well-behaving dubs for some fun-loving ones, and ventured into the city night life, looking for...and sometimes finding...excitement that is generally frowned upon in JW-land. (wink wink nudge nudge)
What usually happens after the memorial?

It is probably a cultural thing. I was a witness for 40 years plus and was never invited anywhere after a memorial. Everyone went home, we weren't encouraged to socialise as there was often another congregation coming into the hall after us.

There were the HOLY ones who went over to someone's house and the discussed the scriptures further.

Generally used to go back to a relatives or friends house for a quick snack , or they would come to ours - it seemed to make the occasion seem a bit more special , otherwise it was just like another meeting. It didn't help that the meeting used to finish pretty late & we used to hang around afterwards talking to the usual occasional meeting attenders , so it could be 10pm before we got home & there was usually kids to put to bed & work the next day.
I always used to find the Memorial a bit of an anti climax. Like so much in JWland , it is hyped up as such a "special meeting" yet is really , really boring. What visitors really thought of it , I can only imagine.
