Hi you all,
My name is Frieda. I grew up next door to the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Monroe NY, which is now the village of Kiryas Joel. I am doing research for a family history and I'm trying to get a picture of the KH before it was destroyed. Is there anyone out there who would have any type of picture or know someone whom I could contact? I'm really curious and would love to hear from my old neighbors about your/their impressions.

Bumping so someone in the are might see it. Sorry I am in another part of the US.
My dad worked on the Assembly Hall in the early/mid 70's. We probably have a few photos in a box somewhere but would not know where to begin.
Hopefully someone else has better access.

Thank you so much! I loved this comment because it references the Hall I'm talking about "That Assembly Hall in Monroe was the first I ever attended. In fact my best [now inactive] friend was baptized there in the late 70's...I remember the Hassidim community being very upset that the Witnesses 'worshipped' there among them. outnfree"
Do you know if there's any way I can contact commentors on this site? This person must know more. I was born after the 70s and I'm so surprised that the KH was so active then. I really want to know when the KH was built!

I wondered about a church in NY when I was young. It seemed spooky to me. The church was Byzantine and I only knew neo Gothic churches. I had suspicions that it was a mosque. I ended up becoming a member. Life is strange. I can't find my old KH.
