Hi Trapped in JW land I know how you feel I have been in all of my life and have always known that I was gay. However got married and now I am stuck at this point in life. And no I do not think they are reaching out to the gay community. The reliogion is the absolute worst persecutor of homosexual people. Remember they take the bible literally and completely disregard any hint of normalcy in a gay relationship. I know some here will dis what I just said but I am not sorry for being myself. Stuck in

JW faith is recognized as one top most homophobic religion in the world. Very a few are put on top of hatred for gay and lesbians as WT. I knew elder who has gay son, he left the organization and moved to his bf in capital city. The parents had mental breakdown and the wife was/is periodically institutionalized due her son's sexual orientation.

Please note my personal experience on this subject. I have been raised in this religion all life (unfortunately). Since preteen I knew I was attracted to other men. I remember one day studying with an elder when I was about 15 years old and the subject of homosexuality come up..to test the waters, I made a comment to him that i had a cousin who had just come out...his response (which I remember vividly to this day) was that "God hated homosexuals and that they would all be destroyed very soon if they did not change their behavior" as he stated that it was a choice to be gay!

For the next 20 years I did not mention this topic to anyone. I have been in both English and Spanish congregations and can honestly state that in both there are many brothers who dispise "fags" as they state. I have been doing a slow fade out of this bigoted organization for this very reason (though learning about past lies has also helped in my exit).

About two years ago, while being in a spanish congregation (and serving as an ms) many brothers (including elders) kept putting pressure on me to get married to a nice sister. Since I have always been athletic and into weightlifting most of the brothers never guessed I was gay (I guess their closed mind thinks that all gay men are into women activities). One day out in service, and feeling sick and tired of having the brothers telling me that i should marry a nice sister, I told an elder that I was gay.... and that pretty much changed everything!!!! Slowly my privaledges were taken away (oh yes they had other reasons but I was not born yesterday) until I finally resigned from being an MS, which by they way they accepted very quickly. Also, the word must have gotten out that I was a gay man (I guess one of the elders must have told their wife). The result was that my "dear brothers and sisters" who in the past were ready to die for me, began treating me like I was from another planet. I finally decided to move back to an English congregation where I am slowing fading now (I went from a very public MS to someone who goes only to sunday meetings in less than 2 years)...hope to be finally free by the end of this year!!!

Therefore, anyone who thinks that this organization is tolerant of gays just does not know the facts. They are only tolerant of gays who stay in the closet...open your mouth and you will see how fast the brothers will all distance themselves from you...
