JW's and the (in?)ability to write coherently

Scully, you've made a very interesting point. One I've wondered about myself, but never voiced.

Prisca, I know. I did too!

I know my comments are pretty general, but it does amaze me how people who are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and older write worse than most elementary children I know. No matter what belief system they hold. I just seem to see a lot more of it on the JW boards than other boards I've been to.

    Skully is right.
I have seen many trol's on this board who purposely spell incorrectly to fool others. Fred Hall is a good example... but we like him.

Many who do this, forget sometimes and use grammer and spell just fine so it proves it is done on purpose.

What we have to remember is that for quite a few posters English is not their first language.

However, whether we like it or not, people often judge us by the spelling and grammar mistakes we make. This means that what we say can be de-valued if we don't take care to type it properly. I agree with Syn, if you have a problem with the English language type what you want to say in a word-processor first (so that it can be spell checked) and then cut and paste it into the board.

The thing is, in Hilda and Happy Man's case, they can learn easier if they pay attention to the way others write proper English. I mean for G-d's sake it's only a matter of typing the same letters on a keyboard! I still think that they're just putting it on and trolling us, quite frankly. Frankly, nothing surprises me anymore.

Remember, higher education is still officially and unofficially frowned upon by the Society. So many of us have to learn how to learn, and self-educate in the process.

Many here too, although not having formal education credentials, are still able to write splendidly.

Hilda - MPD is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder - D.I.D.

If this is what you suffer from, then yes, get help from a professional who deals with this disorder.

I do say, Ms. Billygoat, I read your most urgent and appropriate post over tea and crumpets at my weekend estate and must say brav-vo, my lady, for your astute rendering of this insidious ineptitude. I am rather appalled, appalled I say, at the uncivilized misuse of the King's good English by these loutish religious barbarians, these
self-proclaimed Jehovah's Witnesses. I do say, perhaps these utter pillagers of proper punctuation show their true lineage and bad blood by their lowly and erroneous diction. My fox hounds have better breeding.

: What amazes me (on a pretty consistent basis) is a JW's inability to communicate, TYPE correctly, or use correct syntax in their sentences.

They only know how to sell more books. Everything else is a mere distraction. JFR got exactly what he had hoped to get: dumbed-down book salespersons. He died sixty years ago, but his legacy lives on: a bunch of uneducated folks running around selling books and butchering the English language and undstanding little about the world they in which they live and breath. (And the only world there is in this life.)

Yes, that's as maybe - we can't write - but we can hi-lite! Have you ever seen a group of people handle a highlighter pen so deftly as the Witnesses do? Just come to a watchtower pre-study and look at those Stabilo Boss's go! We've kept that company afloat!
