Not all of Ukip's voters are racists, morons or bigots. Many folk have simply had enough of the ideological orthodoxies foisted upon them by a miniscule proportion of the population - who do so for reasons of economic self-interest or simply out of snobbery. A large proprtion of those who have voted Ukip may well just be wanting to give the established parties a good kick in the bollocks to wake them up a little to the concerns of the British population as a whole. Judging by the panic ensuing amongs the 3 main parties, it seems to be working.

I think Tim has a point. UKIP are not to be taken seriously, they have made British politics interesting again. I'm not sure if they have more idiots than other parties or just have less control over them.
On the other hand we should be very worried about the rise of the serious right wing parties in Europe...
Extreme right wing parties have won the EU elections in France, Denmark and Austria with the hard left winning in Greece...

If people were voting BNP I would be a lot more worried.

i understand what you mean Cofty, but I worry that the BNP mindset is now voting UKIP.
Racism now has an entrance into UK politics.
Shame on the lib dems and clegg for their sham promises and causing such huge liberal apathy. People are refusing to vote LD ever again after Clegg's selfish choices and promise breaking. This has split the liberal vote and left room for such seat takeovers as seen with UKIP.
I appreciate the CONS have lost mostly to UKIP, but lib dems have pissed all over liberal politics and made the youth look and feel duped.
I dread the future where a negative message of immigration and asylum is held and it is worrying to see the CONS siding up with UKIP ideology in order to plug leaking voters.
UKIP can't have it both ways....immigrants have destroyed the country, but also our country is so good immigrants will come in droves.
Both are in fact a lie.......
If this is the way it is going, I won't be sticking around. A daily mail britain is not one I would want to be a part of.

That's noble of you Snare, considering you are a Doctor. I don't particularly favour Tories, or Labour. But that's all Britain has ever been. I have noticed the difference when we have right or left wing in power. But it's all pretty much the same as far as the basics are concerned.
I agree a lot of racist BNP supporters will be voting UKIP, but I am not worried Europe will have all facist leaders, and I can't see another Hitler ever coming into power again, we have learned our lessons.

Yesterday I watched the Smithsonian documentay on WWII- Apocalypse. It was amazing to watch not only the political leaders spout their Right Wing racist doctrines but how millions of ordinary folk bought into it and carried out their programs of 'cleansing'.

UKIP are anti Europe and now have the most seats...... It is ridiculous! They have spouted that europe is nothing but a feeding trough and now they are the biggest consumers of the feed,
The most annoying issue, is voters choosing them out of anger and apathy... Votes are powerful, not to be taken lightly.We don't learn from our mistakes very well as humans, the rhetoric and attitude of the right wing is concerning. We know where this leads.
Clegg has so much to answer for.... I am sure he will live in regret, he sold out and got nothing in return. In doing so he has shifted the politics of our country to the left. The green party just can't take enough seats and now WATCH labour and consrvatives shift o the RIGHT for the sake of the votes.
What a mess.

It's just that no body gave you anything you didn't earn for yourself. You have achieved everything off your own back and done extremely well for yourself. Many Doctors and others in good professions see that everyone can achieve this much, when some simply cannot for various reasons.
I have been brought up in Tory household, and disagree with a lot of my family's political views. I was pleasantly surprised that a Doctor, someone with a well paid profession, could have political views against Tories.
