    Sir82-

Yeah, that's funny. The letter says that if they are not able to go to their assembly, they should not go to the International. So, even if you are able to attend the assembly, you will not be able to. So much for the brothers to put all their efforts to not miss this spiritual feast isn't it.

    Faithful Witness,

My mom is going to that convention....people I work with are getting their invitations now (they were complaining to me about it..like there's anything I can do about it lol)

My mom told me yesterday that they are patting everyone down before they go into the convention building, and that she is only allowed to take in a small lunch bag with specific dimentions (something like 12 inches by 4 inches), their bible-songbook-notebook (not in a bookbag), and sisters can only take a SMALL purse with them-

WTF!!! Is this a new thing...or is it just because it is an international convention???

This is only the 4th convention I have missed, things sure do change!

There is a letter being read to the congregations this week, telling the JWs NOT to attend an international convention if they are not assigned to it.

    .

This isn't new, they do this to control how many people are to attend each individual Assembly.

There is a accommodation issue being worked on.

    .

This pat down and physically viewing what a person takes into the Assembly is quite new though.

I guess they want to curd people taping audio or video segments of the discourses themselves.

Ah Finkelstein....stopping people (like us and other youtubers) from taping the sessions....I think you are on the right track there!

Its funny what you write before a morning coffee.

    I meant curb.

If this is true then the WTS . is really worried about their coercive lies and BS getting out and spread around.

If they knew they weren't telling the truth at Assemblies why would they stop people from taking or making videos of the talks ?

    .

Obviously Big Brother wants to control information to whom and what.

Let's not form conspiracy theories. The reasons for the security surrounding the convention are discussed here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/280422/2/Two-points-of-entry-for-the-Dallas-Convention

*****UPDATE*****(with question if anyone went to it)

I saw in the news that the convention had 45,000 people in attedance. Is that low for an "international Convention"

Then, I wondered what the capacity of that stadium, Ford Stadium, was? It's 65,000 people . . . upwards of 80,000 people for some expanded seatings. Does anyone know if the JWs changed the seating? Were there empty seats? How many regular JWs are in the Michigan and surrounding states? If there are 8,000,000 supposed JWs, then why wouldn't this stadium have move people in it?

the picture on another thread show that the attendents department kept the end-seating below the bill-boards/sreeens totally empty.
