Has Anyone Heard Whether The New JW Bible Is Liked As Much As The Old One?

  The older version had lots of strange wording thanks to Fred Franz.

  Non-JWs have trouble relating to it.

  However, for JWs who grew up with it, memorized parts of it, heard it quoted over and over at the hall, and used it in service, that's the Bible to them and the new lingo doesn't seem right.

  For example, Ecclesiates 9:5 used to say, in part, "the dead are conscious of nothing at all."

  JWs memorized it that way and could recite it in their sleep.

  The new one says, "the dead know nothing at all."

  JWs may have private moments where they wonder why the wording needed changing, especially with Armageddon soooooo close.

  Nevertheless, because the GB made the changes, they will say nothing in public and will soon come to privately accept it as wonderful.

  One witness told me they dont like Gen 2:7 because it now reads "Adam became a living person" and not a "living soul". This screws up her whole ministry ya know?

  Gen 2:7 says a living person??? WoW, talk about a huge change. That is a big verse the JW's use to say we don't have a soul

  The mentality is that everything new from the GB must be an improvement by default. A gift from Jehovah..

  At least thats what they will say.

  Most I know feel that way as well. I also noticed that when brothers especially begin to read from memory the "old" NWT they stop and say oops, thats the OLD one. If they don't catch themselves you can be sure that some sister or brother will mention it to them. Old... lol

  The Noo NWT just says person, allowing the comeback " yes - a person with a SOUL". Are animals called persons on the babble??

  Newly Enlightened

  We know of a current JW sister that refuses to use the bible and was hauled int he back room with 2 elders and told that she has to use the new one. So now she uses her smart phone and they cannot tell if she is reading from the old rusty sword or the silver one
