One guy told me I was not "respecting his lordship." That was an eye opener.....although I was already pretty open.

Another said the governing body doesn't have to be right all the time, and that while they could humbly change their course to be more in line with the spirit, if we did not support them then we would be in deriliction of duty.

Lastly....and most recently.....someone told me they were deeply saddened i had left "mother".

That Ray Franz stated before dying 'how he was really happy, only when he was a JW'. I said to myself, WHAT????? I have to check that statement out and I went to wikipedia, from there to freeminds, JWfacts and CoC.

The PO in a former congregation once told me (when I asked why there was no help for an old sister): life is hard isn't it?... And continued doing his business... I was so flabbergasted that I remember it as it happened yesterday. I could not believe my ears!

O well ... Not my problem anymore anyways :P

    Suavojr,

" That Ray Franz stated before dying 'how he was really happy, only when he was a JW'. I said to myself, WHAT????? I have to check that statement out and I went to wikipedia, from there to freeminds, JWfacts and CoC."

I just checked my electronic copy of CofC, searching the the string "happy". I, too, found no instances of "happy" that supports that statement.

A recent elder comment, to the "car group": "Well, that was a productive morning!"

Two hours were spent knocking on doors, 80% of which were not-at-homes, leaving invitations to the "regional convention" 100+ miles away, which none of those who received the invitation will attend.

most annoying I have heard from one elder:

"Only Jehovahs's Witnesses are truly happy!. Anyone who leaves "the truth" ends up sad, miserable and pathetic"

    Yep...I kid you not....

I was argueing with a couple of elders at my hall about the end time numbers you know 607-1914 and how this could be a problem because well for so many reasons. Anyway I mentioned about all the missed dates that the JW' s has said 1914-1918-1925-1975 etc. and why is this? and he said " that is god holding out a carrot to get more in to the org" Those were not his exact words but something very close, but yeah he basically said god was lying in order to get more people to join the JW's.

In the 1980's I was with an elder in the field service. When I walked back to his house, I noticed how ruined it was. The roof was caved in and leaking, the house was not repainted since WWI, yard was overgrown, etc. Next to his house was a young family that were just fixing their house. After breaf conversation, the homeowner mentioned he has some other improvement to do inside. My elder responded sarcastically that if he has enough time to do all that before Armageddon catches up with him. That was 30 years ago! Anyway, I was walking through the neighborhood last year, and saw the elder house- it was still a ruin. Poor guy is waiting for 30 years, probably hoping inheriting his neighbor house.

"I know they need some encouraging company, but it such a hassle to drive that far to visit with them."

Said when asked about visiting an elderly, ailing couple that lived fourteen miles from town.
