I'm not a fan of tattoos on women. It's almost impossible to find black women with no tattoos in my area. And most tattoos they get are terrible and make them look unfeminine and manly.

She is probably a lot older than she seemed. My daughter is 21 and she often looks as if she's still at school, she doesn't look old enough to be driving a car. But as we get older we find it more difficult to judge age.

She was probably 21, but I may be wrong.

I got my first tattoo at 16 and last at 21, they are all in hidden places, but I can expose them if I wish. As far as piercings go, I think ones that deform the face can cost some a career, other than that the holes can close up and you can remove piercings when you feel like it or circumstance requires it.

Don't beat yourself up too badly. You are probably a little of both (as I am). Even though I was a little rebellious when I was young, I don't think it compares to what kids do today. I tend to agree with Quarterback that some kids seem to have lost respect for themselves. Of course, I blame society but what can you do?

While I do have some small tattoos on my body, I would be afraid of facial piercings. A young person with firm, taut skin cannot imagine the sagging skin of older age and some who have had many piercings aren't gonna look so hot when they hit their forties. Just sayin'.

I have come to know a woman who looks like a china doll and rarely speaks. First appearances were so deceiving as I've come to know her. She does not speak because of an anxiety disorder. She has a wild sense of humour and is as sharp as a tack. Her childhood, traumatic. She expresses herself through those tattoes. Her life is so precarious and I dearly hope she makes it. She might not make it.

I agree that aggressive body mods look weird on a peaches-and-cream complexion, both male and female. That pale skin flushes up if you flutter your eyelashes at it. I envision nasty, flaming infections around those sites. But keep in mind there can be so much more going on inside that person that you can know.

P.S. this woman I have come to know, who looks like a doll, does not feel feminine at all. I suspect it is a defence against a hard and cruel world that has not always been kind to her. Consider that a woman may be trying to appear less feminine, for very personal reasons.

I had a couple of piercings many many years ago when it was still quite new and I was young, skinny and JW.

Those piercings have been removed now that I'm middle aged and a little fuller!!!

I suppose it was an act of independence and I had no other way of expressing my self as a JW drone.

But today I don't think anything is shocking in the way a person looks. Everyone has tattoos and piercings. Its so boring.

There is no individualism anymore.

But I can't stand tats on either sex because I think they look as common as muck. I don't see them as a statement.

As much as I think I'm tolerant and a live and let live kind of person, I just can't help but feel judgy when I see them on a person.

However, my husband has one (which he regrets) so does my lovely aunt and cousin. I don't hold it against them.

I know that's right. I got a tat on my nice and firm a$$ when I was in my late 20's and I can tell you I barely recognized it when I saw it last (several several years later). ROTLMAO

The earth's gravitational pull has some mean effects. LOL

On another note, I know people who missed out on some pretty decent jobs because of some misjudgemented tats and piercing. It seems to be a standard that seperates the masses.

It's always best to use extreme good judgement when choosing the places for piercings and tats.

I would like a fake one! Just to wear out some day.

Personally I do not like them, but one day a young man had the wizard of oz chracters on his bottom back leg! It was so darn cute! He was with his wife and three tittle children. I said look and evetyone ahhhd over it! and him.

I do not care what these young ones are doing. It is some sort of fad going on. They got tattoo magazines out with competitions. I think it is not my generation and I am not suppose to understand it. One time I saw someone with a whole arm of skulls piled up. At first glance I was horrified but after speaking to the young man it was silly of me. He smiled and explained he owns a shop and has a wife and children and it is a good living. Nothing what I imagined.

Hopefully,I will be around for the next generation of young adults.

I am almost 50 and my view of body art and piercings has changed alot since leaving "the religion". I now sport two. One is on the back of my neck, just below the hairline and is a phrase in elvish. I also have a fantasy crescent moon and stars on my right shoulder. I can show them off or hide them.

I've noticed since expanding my association with people of the world that many of these young pierced and tattooed people are intelligent, well balanced, kind, polite, and insightful. After leaving the religion I also went back to school. Many of these youngsters are college educated, even studying medicine.

My supervisor is one of them. He has tattoos and piercings and is in a band when not supervising. My baby sister is one of them. She's married, mother of two. She has tattoos and piercings, and is a tax specialist for a reputable software company.

I've discovered the same thing about older tattooed biker looking people. Many bikers are some of the most generous people you will meet.

We cannot judge books by their covers. Some of the most conservative dressed older people are the most judgemental, rude, and selfish people I've met.

My son's arms are full of tattoos. He's married, has four kids, supports his family with a good job and has served two deployments to Afghanistan. Each tattoo holds a special meaning for him.

I think different people get them for different reasons. My reasons were not the same as my sisters. My son's reasons were not the same as my brother's. Some just like them and it is like a permanent accesory. It isn't necessarily self image or rebellion for everyone.

Just some advice. IF you decide to get a tattoo, research and talk to people. Make sure your artist is awesome. Nothing will cause you more regret than a bad tattoo. My son and I have an awesome artist.
