'We'd always been told when Armageddon comes the governments and Police would be involved'.
'We went into protect Mum mode'.
i'm in the UK--and have never heard anything of this.
This reminds me of that guy in Germany… Fritz something-or-other… who’d kept his biological daughter locked up in his basement for twenty-something years and used her as a sex slave.
And his wife was supposedly clueless about the whole thing.
I think he died in prison.
I remember telling my jw some of the horrors of this story, you can guess his response. All apostate lies, made up , blah, blah.... I printed out the news story and he naturally refused to read it.
You can't tell me that one person in the kh didn't have some knowledge of this or suspicions over a 19 year period! They were in protect the org mode, every one of those people share in the guilt. They were more worried about their own skin (not getting df'd) and protecting this rotten insidious cult than protecting innocent children.
The knee-jerk rejection of anything negative is fear-based.
However, I do remember the first time I realized that it was statistically impossible for all bad news to be false…
…therefore, some of it had to be true…
…but more importantly, wilfully refusing to even consider that possibility was potentially dangerous.
The article is horrific (and old; why has it been brought BTTT? Is there a new development?)* But:
"More... Rolf Harris's daughter accused him of sexually molesting her friend and was in such a state she furiously 'banged her head against a wall"
How did Rolf Harris get in here? 🤔
On the Spry case, I found this:
Daughter, 34, who suffered years of abuse hanged herself
Daily Mail

Sad that she never lost her ability to wound her daughter 😞
* ETA: Okay, I see that the video is recent. Perhaps a bit of a description here, rather than making me follow the link to find out what it's about?
