I apologize if this has already been covered, maybe someone can post the link.

What is the real reason for the society forgiving all loans for kingdom halls and just giving the money for new ones?

It's pure semantics. WT hasn't forgiven any loans.

"Loans" have simply been relabelled as obligatory, set-amount monthly "donations" equal to or greater than, the previous loan amount.

Why? Most likely to avoid legal liabilities under the previous arrangement. By all accounts, it's also resulting in a one-off windfall for WT through a plundering of congregation savings accounts.

Several threads have already covered this at length.

**** What is the real reason for the society forgiving all loans****

Will the WBTS really forgive the loans ? Or will they have their accountants write them off as tax deductions (unpayed loans) while they expect the exact same amount to be paid as a "free will donation"

Ask yourself, if the loans are really forgiven will the WBTS sign over the deed of the land and KH to the locals ?! NOT !

The WBTS are worse than Wall Street bankers they own every KH, and can sell and buy without any opposition from the R and F. The WBTS are wiser than the Roman Empire in their capture of land while abusing the tenants to protect their financial interests.

Usually when a "Loan is fogiven" (in the US) the property (in this case) becomes a "GIFT" or "CASH ON DELIVER". The party on the receiving end will usually have to pay taxes for the amount that was remaining on the loan that they no longer have to pay.

So if a KH was built for $200,000 and the congregation paid $150,000 over the years and has the rest of the loan/debt "forgiven" the Congregation would have to pay taxes on $50,000 that was remaining. It would be as if they were actually given that money in cash.

Now...the WT is very slick about this...because most likely the congregation's KH is already the PROPERTY of the WTBTS. So they're forgiving a LOAN that really NEVER was a LOAN to begin with, and they're calling it something else now. While appearing to be the NICE, GOOD GUYS...they're really pulling off an ingenious plan.

I thought that the WT doesn't pay taxes at all anyway, so the 'tax-writeoff' idea would not matter. Am I wrong about that?

Sure, the loan is forgive, but keep sending the money long after it would have been forgiven, and by the way, your Hall is our Hall.

one would think by being a tax-free organization there would be oodles of money saved up....but with this new tithing arrangement, something smells really bad.
