What makes a true friend?

So the "model" presentation for this months latest awake mag is this (as found in the latest kingdom ministry):

Social networks have made it possible for people to have more so-called friends than ever before. What would you say is the most important quality of a true friend? [Allow for response.] Here’s an example of the practical advice on friendship that is found in the Bible. [Read James 1:19.] This magazine outlines four guiding principles that can help us be the kind of person others would want to have as a friend.”

I couldnt help laughing when I considered that witnesses are the worst example of people who have mastered the art of 'conditional friendships'!

The organization gives you the illusion that you have alot of friends but just ask one little edgy question and watch as the wave of suspicion rises to the surface of your so called friends face.

No, seriously, a true friend is someone you can phone in the middle of the night and ask for help and they'll be there whatever.

Loyalty. Trust. Someone who isn't afraid to tell you when your'e being an idiot either.

I haven't read the article yet, I found a copy of the mag, thrown away in the train station. But my guess is that the article is pointing to Jehovah as your friend, which really means the GB. That's because Jehovah always keeps his promises. What nonesense!

I have read it now, I jumped to the wrong conclusion, but it did say it in the bible teach book that a friendship with Jehovah is the best friendship you could ever have.

What makes a TRUE friend?

Well it wouldn't be a JW........ they seem & act like they really care about you but their friendship is conditional on you becoming the type of person the borg approves of.

& wouldn't give you the time of day!!!

Ha ha you really have to laugh at the

"friends structure" with jw's, it really is one

big gossip pit! Each member is fodder, at risk

On the J WTalk board recently somebody posted a cringe making rhyme about the superiority of "theocratic friends " .. That went down well for a few more posts until someone had the courage to say that they wished their congregation was like that ! That opened the floodgates of dubs all recognizing that all is not always well in JW land and that one can feel very alone.......So true , and of course it is conditional upon you remaining a "friend of Jehovah"..

Wow, jws at JWTalk actually coming out and saying that their congregation is not so friendly? I'm amazed that anyone there had the courage to call it as they see it.
