What I have seen is that they ask if all agree, this is done by raising your hand. Never been asked anyone in disagreement? Presume due to the majority raising their hands. I never put my hand up for any resolution involving giving more to WTS.

Last resolution about the monthly contribution, i think i was the only person did not raise his hand and was confronted by one elder later about it. Just told him i don’t agree with the arrangement and changed the subject avoiding confrontation and checking if I believe in GB- too early to expose myself!

I could have voted No, but I did not, but about 10 in my old congregation did vote No. I forgot what was it about.

It's rare, but I occasionally saw it happen when I was still in.

If I had to guess, the higher-ups didn't like it (disunity, doncha know?), and as a result, voting these days is done a lot less, and only over trivial things (if at all).

If you don't count the voting done on the color choices for the KH and those types of votes, I only once saw a situation where a sister voted against the rest of the congregation. She was a very vocal sister and didn't take crap off of anyone.

It's generally pointless as the majority will win out. I tried to reason against a major expenditure that was circuit wide, but got shot down in flames. I also know of an elder that produced a list of questions at a CIRCUIT elders meeting, complete with financial figures outlining the reasons against what was being proposed. He was right. But outvoted. Majority vote wins. Unity for all YAY!

back in the day we ended up sharing a KH. the question of meeting days & times caused ructions. finally a vote was taken--lots of no's. the overseer wasnt the sharpest tool in the box--he simply announced--"carried unamimously"

I dont think public votes count for much. But of coursee a ballot box is out the question. Remember its not a democracy but a theocracy.

With the current new arrangements re 'donating', and signing over the title deeds of the khall to the society, they asked us for a "a show of hands in the affirmative"...then they said, "well thats obviously unanimous...we will indicate this is passed...now the next part of the meeting is..."

it was quickly moved on from, and no time was allowed for questions or clarification.
