Not loudly, but just so your table could hear?
LL
LL- A congregation I was assigned to in 1969 had a Presiding Overseer who would pray out loud in restaurants. He took a bunch of us Pioneers to a Pizza place for lunch one day and just as we were all ready to chow down he stood up and started praying loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear.
....I wanted to crawl under the table.
lol Designs... I never knew anyone to stand up like that. How embarrassing. lol
"Oh Lord, I thank you that I was not born a woman, or as one of these wretched other pizza eaters. I pray over my pizza three times a day, and give a tenth of all I have to the temple..."
.
pass the parmesian, please.
I started this thread because for some stupid reason my mind went back to 1985. We were at a restaurant. A brother we were with made a big deal that the meal was on him.
So, okay. There's a first time for everything.
We order.
His grandchildren had never seen shrimp before.
Someone from my side ordered the shrimp.
The food came.
Everyone was served.
The grand kids are gawking.
The Bro said, Let us pray.
All of his family held hands together.
LoisLane who does not pray like she is sticking her whole face into her soup bowl, notices the waiter is back, and is asking questions.
The waiter is oblivious to the bro praying. lol
It was hilarious.
The bro who is hosting, his wife is loud, very loud, and bossy, very bossy... and demanding.
After prayer, they had that waiter running for this and that.
AND when we finished, the brother who is paying, his wife made a big deal about leaving a tip.
She held up $2.00 and looked at her grandchildren as if to say, actually, I don't know what... lol
Zany words of wisdom she was trying to impart.
Sorry if you guys are not laughing like I am. Maybe you had to be there.
And yes, we did let them go ahead of us and either my ex or I went back and left an appropriate tip.

embarassing moments, very much
Never did. Totally rude and of course Pharisaic, duh.
*** w09 2/15 p. 15 par. 4 Do Jesus’ Sayings Influence Your Prayers? ***
When praying, Jesus’ disciples were not to imitate such “hypocrites” as the self-righteous Pharisees, whose public display of piety was nothing more than a pretense. (Matt. 23:13-32) Those hypocrites liked to pray “standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the broad ways.” Why? So as to be “visible to men.”
*** w98 8/1 p. 9 par. 9 Jehovah—The Source of True Justice and Righteousness ***
The Pharisees, on the other hand, sought opportunities to display their “righteousness” by praying or making contributions in public. (Matthew 6:1-6)
I hate to admit it but I did. I remember one time after the
assembly a group of us from our congregation went to a Chinese
restaurant. Around 12-15 JW's and they ask me to pray. Fortunately
there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant. LOL
But after I finish, the whole restaurant and people from the kitchen
came out and looked at us like we were from a different world.
All the friends stated later,"what a good witness"..LOL
yeah,no kidding, I mean like let us not make a spectacle of ourselves, lol
