I think they have recruited many

True they catch a minority, mostly out of the fear mongering strategy utilized by the WTS. and lets remember that even the highly educated can

experience emotional trauma in their lives, which can make these ones vulnerable to the aggressive marketing of the WTS.

OTWO, I must have read it in CoC page 198. Thanks for that. I have just been googling intellectual intimidation with Steve Hassan and got the same Truth be told video you did.

Phizzy, ahh so your saying that loaded language is a form of intellectual intimidation. Ok.

Thanks for this example. I don't suppose you can find out the WT reference for me. I don't have the CD rom, and the WT library doesn't go that far back.

May 1, 1981 Watchtower Magazine, "Question From Readers." You can find it on page 452 in "In Search of Christian Freedom" under the chapter, "Argumentation and Manipulation."

Jehovah has given us his living Word, the Bible. With this tool, we can prove that what we say can be trusted and comes from God. That is why when Paul was training Timothy, he encouraged him to handle “the word of the truth aright.” ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ) How can we apply Paul’s counsel? By carefully choosing the scriptures we will read to others. Our goal is to touch the hearts of those who listen to us. The tracts we received in 2013 were designed to help us do that. Aug 2014 WT

I think this is an example. They are saying to all JWs that the GB are the scholars and JWs aren't able to carefully pick out scriptures themselves.

    Anyone agree, am I right?

Yesi agree but that statement form the example you give is full of loaded language "we can prove we can be trusted" which is a bold statement but one proved time and time agian to be untrue.

    You are correct.

The objective of anyone who practices intellectual intimidation is to make others feel inept.

The WT is skilled at doing that.

I hear what you're saying good point. I also think that to keep them in they must use some intellectual intimidation. What do you think of my example in my post 3873?

Emery, great stuff. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

So yes the WTS. utilizes intellectual intimidation in its self supporting marketing strategy but thats part of their endeavor

    to take control over people.

Its about creating power and control for themselves and the lower attached power figures connected to the organization.

    DO's, CO's, Elders etc.

..... and they exploit the bible (god's word) strenuously to back themselves, to show that its not just themselves

    working alone.
