'Cause from what I can see, that's the only thing that an overwhelming majority of other religions are able to do to survive in the Information Age...

...but I have a real hard time imagining it happening in Watchtowistan.

Remember, as far as the WTS is concernerned, their whole raison d'etre is to be God's exclusive means of communication and the only lifeboats on the sinking ship of humanity.

Mainstreaming would inevitably take all that away, because one of the fundamental changes that occurs in progressive reform is leaving apocalyptic millennialism behind...

...but then what would be the point of staying? Of the WTS even existing?

They could shit rainbows from the stage and the sheep would marvel at the beautiful colors. They are masters of gradualism. They may lose some members, but many will never question the "adjustments." In fact, they will believe the ORG invented charity and that it has always taken the lead in charitable works. Worldly organizations merely pretend to perform charitable works.

Think about it. The ORG starts doing actual charity. The stupified sheep believe that somewhere on earth ( just not where they live) the ORG has ALWAYS performed charity, TRUE charity. Now the ORG is being investigated regarding charity!?!?! What further proof of persecution and of being the one true religion/channel of God could anyone possibly need? Only Satan could manipulate governments to attack the ONLY True Charitable Organization on Earth, while lesser so-called charities are allowed to operate freely.

Beginning to perform real charity while simultaneously being "persecuted" is friggin genius IMO. If I was a GB member I would put charity on the fast track, BEFORE its too late. Charity makes no difference in the nearness of the G-trib. It's still "soon."

The Watchtower puts the blame squarely at Jehovah's feet. He put the 'two witness' requirement in the Bible after all (even though it's clearly only a 'rule' for allegations about non-criminal matters betweens adults in the Christian congregation).

Forget that child molestation is a CRIME, not just a sin. Shove aside that it must therefore be dealt with by the secular authorities, the higher authorities under Caesar's law. Just put all that aside and just treat it like a sin that the elders can determine repentance over, like fornication between consenting adults.

The Watchtower Society doesn't understand the first thing about basic Christian principles as taught by Jesus. It only understands strict Pharasaical adherence to fanatical, cruel, legalistic interpretations that shove aside mercy, justice, etc.

Strict, fanatical obedience to wrong legalistic Pharasaical interpretations is more important than ousting paedophiles from the congregation.

Two witnesses, two witnesses, we must have our two witnesses.

Sacrifice the children raped and who died for want of a blood transfusion on the Watchtowers's altar of legalistic, pharasaical, fanatical, compassionless, erroneous, immoral interpretations.

The Watchtower says it abhors child abuse, but Jehovah abhors child sacrifice in the name of religion - Psalms 106:38; Jeremiah 7:31, 19:5; Ezekiel 16:20 etc, etc.

By their fruits you will recognise them. There is no more rotten fruitage than a religion that has policies that harm and contribute to the death of children.

They are already doing it.

Look up "Jah Jireh Homes" on the Net. While they claim to have no affiliation with WT, it has WT written all over it. Nursing homes exclusively for JWs, run by JWs, and they abide by all WT rules. And they also claim charity status.

There was a lot of hassle with the Charity Commission and the Exclusive Bretheren a couple of years ago. They were turned down but the CC then did a U-turn.

I think it's unlikely that the WTBTS will be removed ( frankly there are some far crazier religions , Christian cults & some pretty extreme islamic religions that are approved ) but I get the feeling the CC are starting to get a bit irritated with the society. Having 8 elders and a jailed child abuser grilling victims isn't going to go down very well , especially after the WTBTS assured the CC that they had a child protection policy in place.

Ultimately , these kind of paedophile judicial cases are best not being left to the usual pretty hopeless congregation elders who are completely inexperienced and make a total hash of things. I can see the WTBTS in the UK having a very carefully chosen group of elders who are well up date with all the legal propcedures and parachuting them in to handle these cases. It is just becoming a minefield for the WTBTS and they are leaving themselves wide open to trouble , both in the press and potential crippling financial liabilities.
