ANY ILLUSTRATORS OUT THERE?

  I am planning on doing some creative writing. I want to start a web comic. I attended a Comic-con and sat in on a seminar about web comics, and I met some great local artists. I also purchased an original comic from a young man who did all his own illustrating and inking and published his own comic. I was impressed, but I found the story...mmmmm...Sophomoric.

  I think I could do better, but I am not an illustrator. I would like to collaborate with an illustrator. I have a concept and an opening scene. I am thinking of reaching out to local artists in my area. Then I thought that I would ask here first. Is anyone interested in cooperating? I write the story, you send me designs. We put it on the web and see what happens. I am doing this as a creative outlet, but given the currnet popularity of certain genres[ NO ZOMBIES], it could turn into something more. This is the INDIE/computer age after all.

  Oh yeah. This is also an effort at actually using my creative abilities that have been squelched by the WTBTS. I have been taught how to fail for decades, bit that is coming to an end.

  HI D-D, sounds like you have some terrific ideas, and hope you run onto a talented artist to work with.

  I can't draw worth a hoot, but just wanted to say your creativity is inspiring! I'm getting back to my jewelry-making.

  That sounds awesome! There are so many wonderful and creative people. It's a shame that JWs are trapped in a cult, awaiting a future someday. Do you put your jewelry on Etsy?

  Yes, i used to sell on the "bay" and etsy and personal jewelry shows; with the family problems i had to let it all go. But things are a LOT better now - i've gotta get back to my real craft.

  which takes passing a jury to get in.

  I love cartoons ! I can draw both freehand and

  with a computer using a WACOM tablet and Corel or

  Illustrator or Photoshop CS3 brushes and pens.

  I have an epic story for a comic series that I would love to make, but likewise can't draw it. I used to sketch and draw all the time as a kid, I passed my art exams at high school level and it ended there really. I did some sketching whilst learning human anatomy and enjoyed it but time became an issue so I couldn't complete it.

  I have a JW pal illustrator who is very liberal and good regarding the issue of me leaving so I hope to do something with him, but the theme of my comic is science and evolution (in space lol) so I am hesistant to do it and put him in a difficult situation. The ship is called 'The Beagle'..... lol.

  As a side note, there is a UK JW in the north west who is a resl comic illustrator. He has drawn spiderman comic covers etc.

  Interesting fact, when they ran the story of spiderman taking his mask of to the world, the UK JW illustrator got the contract to draw the cover and sneaked in some of his own facial features for spiderman's face...

  I was never a big comic guy, but my JW pal was and he got me into a few. I miss him and our geek outs! I also miss dedicating an evening to a post bath mug of coffee and 2hr graphic novel session. I have the HUSH graphic novel still that my friend bought me as a gift and I also have Birthright, which is a great one too.

  I've been working in comics for a couple of years. It is a very enjoyable storytelling medium. I'm mainly a writer, but I do my own coloring and lettering. I've been picking up some freelance work there and have something scheduled in an IDW graphic novel. I've also published some other things, participated in anthrologies, and run a weekly newspaper comic strip called, Aporkalypse.

  My main series is Pretty Face. I'm currently running it as a webcomic with udpates on Friday at www.prettyfacecomic.com.
  
  The religious cult in my comic has some similarities to the JW's, you may catch.
