I hope they don't put a hit on him. This Pope tells it like it is!

Just shows you that this man is not a hypocrite. He pretty much told them that their destiny is hell.

This Pope is causing many sit up and take notice. He is not afraid and not concerned about himself.

I've gained a respect for this pope that surpasses the benign comfort of the late Pope John Paul. He was kinda cuddly, but this new one seems serious about following Jesus and expecting decency. I respect that.

He is a good man, a man of principle.

One straight statement won't excuse them from all the obstacles they put in front of the progression of science, and some nice words won't make me forget how they persecuted scientists in the middle ages. Imagine where could humanity be if the industrial era had started in the 1400s!

    Catholics, jws, mormons = cancer

    What scientists did they persecute?

The two well known example are Copernicus and Galileo.

Let's put it this way: the church did not exactly promote critical thinking. I may have exaggarated in my above comment, but nobody can deny that scientific progression was slowed down due to the church.

How many people will have a desire to understand nature if the one and only catholic church offers answers in the form of "God"? Exactly, very few. That's what happened centuries ago.

Religion was a necessery pian in the ass for humanity for a long time, but it's hilarious that the majority of mankind still beleives in fairytales.

And regarding the OP: I think that's the least he can do.

the protestants excommunicated j. Kepler. I. Newton wrote his controversial religious treatises secretly, hidden, for fear he would loose that good head of his.
