Stopping and telling that woman to stand up and walk! That would have been something to say "grazie" What happened with all the nice accounts from the bible?

But if could at least get some of the members from the GB to do this....

My opinion ... the accounts in the bible are nothing more than tall tales and legends!

Not too long ago, here in the states, there was a story about a man that died. He was pronounced dead, zipped up, and sent to the morgue. At the morgue they have him on the table getting ready to embalm him and he starts moving around and breathing. They called an ambulance and he wasn't dead at all! http://ktla.com/2014/02/28/man-declared-dead-wakes-up-in-body-bag-at-morge/

If that had happened in biblical times, there is no telling how the story would be told today, but it no doubt would have been accredited to a miraculous healing! Maybe Jesus touched the hem on his skirt!

This stuff bothers me so much. I know it shouldn't, but it does.

Hey look! The "holy father" touched a cripple! Bravo!

I mean seriously, I'm sure hes a good guy overall, but this Pope stuff seems so.....I don't know......17th Century?

They do the same thing with Justin Beiber. It's ridiculous!

Good question. Catholics talk about the Pope being a continuous line from Peter. Peter could heal, so why not the Pope?

Listen, let's be honest, the holy spirit's kinda getting up there. It's been assigned to the pope for like 2,000 years. You have to be reasonable about what you expect it to be able to do in its advanced age. Back 1,000 years ago, it still had some kick. A pope could touch a dislocated shoulder, and pop it right back into place. Nowadays... well, okay, let's say that lady had a hangnail. Bam! Would've healed that thing right up.

Religious groups thrive on crediting God with doing the "lesser" of two or more steps to "help" people.

For example, there was tragic vehicle crash some short weeks ago in which a man lost his wife and 8-year-old daughter when another vehicle ran a Stop sign and smashed into their vehicle. Kind-hearted people have since publicly called upon God to comfort the grieving man.

But why do we consign "God" to the lesser role in these kinds of events? He is asked to step in to "comfort" grieving people but has already not stepped in to spare the lives of the wife and daughter in the first place. This modern-day God specializises in lesser "spiritual deeds" that have to be taken on faith. Something doesn't quite add up.

Some have asked why the Pope does not heal......same reason that when you call on Jesus or God nothing happens.

It was a good PR stick and a good gamble. Remember if a Catholic is involved in a miracle they get voted on to become a Saint....

I fully understand the extreme cynicism, but I thought this was rather beautiful. He seems to be the best of a bad bunch in some ways, he is trying to do something about the disgusting paedophilia in the RCC for example. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but this pope does seem to have a bit of a heart and compassion about things, has a feeling for the suffering experienced by the common people. Maybe it is all a charade but he seems to be trying to be a bit more humble and Christ-like, at least in comparison to his predecessors of late We know it's all superstitious nonsense, but put it this way, can you imagine the Governing Body doing something like that?
