Pedophile Elder in jail gets reinstated

  This is what an elder said to me, when I told him that pedophiles do not change: "The Bible says 'That is what some of you were,' so that means they CAN change." I suppose that remark is the official WT party line?

  The concept that defines pedophiles is their belief that no higher authority exists than themselves. Therefore NO they do not feel remorse for anything they have done, anymore than any other sociopath feels remorse.

  They are expert actors and can fool anyone who believes that a pedophile could or would ever quit wanting to molest children. The elders who think they cannot be fooled and that they have the ability to figure out whether a person is sincere, are idiots.

  Then all he has to do is change congregations, and while the law would require him to register as a sex offender in his vicinity, and tell his immediate neighboors, in the congregation that information would only go to the elders, and the congregation would not be made aware.

  Don/t you have to suffer through at least a year of being shunned at EVERY meeting before they reconsider you for re-instatement? Lots of begging, groveling, showing that you are not hanging out with bad influences (or anyone, really, considering JWs can't talk to you)? That seems kinda inequitable when they DF a guy just for giving an appearance of evil (suspected fornication with two witnesses that they spent too much time alone or something)

  Who do we criticize the most, The congo for reinstating him or the authorities for releasing him? They are both guilty of excessive leniency in most people's opinion.

  As for the elders, I guess that they don't want him back either but The Society rules and guidelines say that they must accept a repentant wrongdoer back in the fold. 2 years is about the max if he has professed repentance all the time and done nothing to contradict this. They will intend to "supervise " him on release although we all know that this has limits

  Why does the legal system just give sex offenders involving children a mild slap on the wrist? Very simple explanation: The legal system NEEDS criminals running loose so as to keep the police, judges and lawyers employed. If convicted criminals were actually incarcerated for a LONG time, their jobs might be in jeopardy. Therefore jails and prisons are a 'revolving door' to keep criminals circulating in and out of the System. More police must be hired to perpetuate this cat & mouse game. I realize my opinion isn't a popular one, but that's my take on it. Why else do convicted child rapists/ abusers/molesters get only a couple of years in prison? Then they get out and the legal game starts all over again, with children being the innocent victims.

  Just a guess, but this guy probably got a lighter sentence because he wasn't caught in the act, he was just trying to get to that point.

  That being said, there are plenty of things that can be done if he gets back into the congo. Make sure everyone is warned about this guy, especially if he moves to another hall. If the guy goes in serve-us, see if you can capture video of him at a door. Send it off to every news channel and paper within 50 miles. Make it easy for them, give them the guy's address and the elduhs names and phone numbers.

  Maybe someday if enough headaches are caused for the WT they will finally slap a serve-us restriction on these sickos.

  LisaRose, you are spot on with your comments. As for I wonder how long it will be before he is made an elder again the answer could be Soon™.

  Time for those in the know inside the congs to start spilling the beans and protecting innocent children rather than their molesters.
