I'm shocked!! I think I found the REAL reason for no voting, for tons of preaching and no public charity!! The IRS and taxes!

  The WT controls EVERY part of it's members lives. Now if they really allowed voting, then obviously since they have the only channel to God, they would be expected to provide guidance as to who is the best candidate and best party, etc.

  Well, if you look in the IRS booklet for tax exempt organizations, including religions and churches over here, go to page 5, "jeopordizing tax exempt status". http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1828.pdf

  One of the things that will make them lose the tax exempt status,,,"they must not participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office"

  Another thing, it seems they MUST provide some sort of charity. And if they don't, then religious services and the PROMOTION of religion.

  Unless I'm reading it wrong, that means if they didn't keep pushing for more door to door, then they would be forced to give back money for real charity!!

  Reading the IRS guide, I think they really could lose their tax exempt status if it was exposed they are really working that system and not giving any sort of charity and it's all a smoke shield to make money for those high up who contract all the services being done.

  You are probably onto something. In order to keep tax exempt they must track volunteer hours.

  Wow, I'm reading the whole IRS guidebook and it's like the ENTIRE religion is based up every rule to NOT get taxed and not pay anything.

  No political involvement and since the "Faithful slave knows EVERYTHING" they then make doctrine that it's against the bible to vote so they can still try to control every other aspect of their lives and just have everybody not vote.

  Since they dont' want to give to real charity and help real people, they do the magazines because those who profit from the sales and supplies and the JW owned corporations make a killing and they keep tax exempt status.

  Even their Bethel workers policies are to not pay taxes, social security, etc.

  But there are people in the organization that are really benefiting, I wonder if there is a way to get the IRS to dig deep and not smokescreen what's really going on.

  Maybe everybody should write to IRS about being current/ex members. Inform them about how they don't do any charity, even to existing members. And send them the WT articles about those who get the disaster relief efforts should donate the entire insurance settlement to them. (they get paid the insurance and profit from the free labor and sometimes donated materials.) And even though they don't give anything to anybody who needs help, they send articles all the time asking for wills, estates, and every possible way to get money.

  I am certain the IRS keeps tabs on the WT and other groups to the extent allowed by law. Letters from JWN are not going to convince IRS officials to investigate the Witnesses. My concern would be the WT investigating us and passing the info to the IRS. They used to set up pioneering in conjuction with Selective Service laws.

  I never delved deeply into this, but what you say sounds logical..

  It is just sickening though that they try to make the JWs believe that the reason they're not "supposed" to believe in politics is for religious reasons (God's kingdom and all that). Meanwhile, the reality appears to be far less noble!

  Words can't describe the contempt I have for this sham of a religion!!! It deserves the damnation it wishes on the rest of the world and the fate it wishes on "Babylon the Great". Soon.

  LDS with Romney, Baptists with Perry, we saw a lot of religions supporting and even preaching sermons from their pulpits in the last national elections here. The IRS was looking closely at these cases but none lost their tax exempt status.

  So if every dub turned in one of these over a certain period of time, they would eventually have to start forking over some of their assets to the IRS...
