The irony is that the moustaches but no beards rule makes the all the brothers in the congregation look like a bunch of gay donut-eating cops moonlighting as out-of-shape pornstars when viewed as a group.

In my congregation, it was considered improper for a brother to be alone with a sister who was not his wife. If the brother were gay, he was not to be alone with another brother either. Basically, he was treated like a leper in Bible times. In Truthwillsetyoufree's case, it sounds like the elders took it upon themselves to yell out "Unclean! Unclean!" to the congregation. I guess they never made it to the part in the Bible where God says, "It is not good for the man to be alone." God only said that after Adam observed all the other animals with companions, both straight and gay. Wait, that's in Genesis chapter 2. They should have read that, shouldn't they?

I'm so glad you're out of the wtbts now, even though you had to go through the pain of disfellowshipping. I think one of the most important themes of life is authenticity. I don't think anyone can be authentic while at the same time being a JW. I'm glad you can explore an authentic life now.

    Truthwillsetyoufree,

Your story is deeply touching; thank you for sharing it. I think everyone on the board knows how I feel about this subject. Live life fully. Hold nothing back. Be who you are, proudly. The Borg is likely incapable of evolving, but the further you get from it the more you will wonder what you ever saw in it. Many of us left family behind, and those wounds may never completely heal. Good luck to you.

I'm very sorry you experienced this.

We were all brainwashed to hate homosexuality as a Cardinal sin. There is so much ignorance about homosexuality in the Borganization. It is unfathomable.

Thank you for sharing your story it takes courage to do this.

It is terrible treatment and an example of a double standard- the elders will whisper to everyone in the congregation "to protect the flock from a gay man" but they won't tell a soul about the JW pedophile who is back in the congregation and around children every meeting and in service.

Hello Truthwillsetyoufree, I read your op with much interest as I can identify with it completely.

Thankfully the elders I 'confessed' to regarding the struggle to subdue my homosexuality kept it to themselves, however they didn't know how to help in anyway............more fs, more bible study, more prayer, all pretty useless really.

One thick elder even asked if I would like his son to have a bible study with me............I'd been a JW for 50 years & this 25 year old rising star JW pioneering twit was supposed to be the answer to my prayers & get me back on the road to pretending to be straight & acceptable in dubbie land....

It is a lonely life not being allowed to experience the love of another.

Hopefully you haven't left it as long as I have in breaking away from the WT.

"its also revealing to see how elders are willing to share private juducial informaiton"

These are the definitions according to how a lot of elders think:

non-confidential -- Something that can be discussed from the platform.

confidential -- Something you tell everyone, but only tell one person at a time.
