I get what he's doing. He fashions himself as some sort of performer. He is obsessed with enunciation and feels he has an impressive voice. He's trying to sound intelligent and put together...and it probably worked in impressing the powers that be who promoted him.

This is a very good question. Unfortunately I have never been LETT in on the secret, so I am not qualified to answer.
