'Jehovah's Kingdom' convention banner

Making the rounds on Facebook is a snapshot of some JWs holding a huge banner from the upper deck at a convention. It says, "Jehovah's Kingdom" and underneath a crudely drawn download 'bar' with the number 99% on the right side, as if to say in computer lingo, Jah's day is almost here. Behind are other dubs holding up smaller placards, but I can't remember what they said.

Is this a WT sanctioned or approved action? Or was it some rogue rubes trying to liven things up? What with the WTS promoting/marketing JW.org, I wonder just who is responsible for something so out of place in the traditionally stuffy, boring convention setting.

Worse than the banners/signs themselve are the JWs on Facebook sharing the photo as if it were brought down from on high by Moses himself...

How can they be so certain it's 99% here when they've been black-and-white wrong in their predictions for significantly over 100 years? Also, the "99%" is meaningless unless we know the total. In other words 99% of what? That 1% remaining could be a long time.

The banner thing is indicative of the new look and feel and personality of JWdom. It goes right along with all the international convention partying and all the other kookieness. JWs really are trying to be relevant, hip, and cool. If they didn't have permission to do it, then they probably just sensed that it was OK since they see all the other similar stuff going on.

I tried to talk with my JW mother after the convention. They really are getting dumber and dumber and more brainwashed. And with the dumbing down, they're becoming more happy-clappy and less dignified as evidenced by the banner thing. Since there's no more mental stimulation, I guess they have to fill the void with something.

I'm still waiting to see someone waving the "Mission Accomplished" banner. Referring to Jesus' reign in heaven, naturally.

Or a "We Were Right After All" banner.

    I'd rather see a "JWFacts.com" or "jehovah-witness.net" banner, personally.

“Is this a WT sanctioned or approved action? Or was it some rogue rubes trying to liven things up? . . . I wonder just who is responsible for something so out of place . . .”

Well, as far as that kind of thing goes, I think that it’s basically the same phenomena you see at hockey and football games, with people holding various signs and banners and painting their faces, etc. People are apt to do those sensational sort of things anywhere. It’s just part of human nature, albeit often rather immature and asinine.

    “I'd rather see a "JWFacts.com" or "jehovah-witness.net" banner, personally.”

Now, THERE’S the idea, “undercover”! Don’t forget “http://aawa.co,” “http://www.silentlambs.org,” and “http://ajwrb.org” – those ones are important too. You know what? We should arrange a busload of us “apostates” to hit convention arenas and do some, um, public “wallpapering” (especially if the media is there with their camera).

I think they get carried away since international assemblies are one of the few ocassions they get to express any individuality. You see that with the delegates dressed in supposedly local attire. Some Witnesses use them as an opportunity to express themselves and get carried away.

That's my guess, anyway. I saw pictures from some local kingdom halls where they had literally piled hay on the stage and had the delegates stand for pictures behind it wearing their "local garb."

It seems that the WTS is becoming more and more aware that any kind of “logical” or “factual” academic approach on their part is simply not going to cut ice because of the ease with which information can now be compared and tested against their history, . . . . so, that is why they are instead focusing more on the charismatic, emotional-type approach. It’s like they are hoping that people will think they will be discovering some tantalizing hidden, mysterious type of information by checking out the WTS’ Web site.

Many JWs will probably just be getting a box of the new contact cards and scattering them around to accumulate their hours in a sort of “high-speed dubbing mode.” And, of course, if that is going to be the case, then us “apostates” should, as “OneEyedJoe” suggested above, “go to vista print and order some similar looking cards that instead direct people to the "Why Jehovah's Witnesses need your help" PDF on jwsurvey instead” – or perhaps also list some other choice Web sites, such as “http://jwfacts.com,” “http://aawa.co,” “http://www.silentlambs.org,” and “http://ajwrb.org” – you know, the real thinking man’s sites. That would only be fair, I think – a sort of tit for tat.

Why don't a bunch of you mentally diseased apostates go to the Atlanta International Convention?

Get all dressed up. Find some seats behind the speaker. Drop down a BIG "JWfacts.com" banner!!!

And just a general reminder, jwfacts.org redirects to jwfacts.com, so simply writing "facts" next to the word "JW" in the "JW.org" logo repurposes the logo to point to TTATT.
