Sorry, I thought this was a thread about GB members going to International Conventions!

I know someone who knows him quite well. She said he's not at all the 'idiot' he plays on the TV.

I love Karl Pilkington, he's got a really interesting mind I reckon. Ricky Gervais used to say on their radio show (probably about 12 years ago now, yikes time flies) that Karl always focuses on the subtext and is concerned with questions no-one else would think was important. A fair few of the old XFM radio show chats were animated for The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO.

I don't think he would get caught up in any type of religion. He believes a lot of nonsense, or seems to, I think some stuff is for comic effect. Monkey news is a good example, he plays that up to make it funnier. He's actually quite objective on a lot of things and cuts through the BS. He does prefer the fantastical to the mundane truth though. The problem with religion is that its quite dull, even the afterlife bit which no-one has made sound fantastic yet. Its either sitting on a cloud playing a harp singing hosannahs or riding around on a panda collecting fruit for all eternity.

Karl reminds me a lot of my late grandad and I'm getting the same way too. My grandad could be quite difficult to get on with for some people cos he was tactless and didn't care if you were his friend/family or not, or really care about having friends/family. He liked my grandma though, which was lucky. I often wonder what Karl's like in a normal setting with Suzanne and stuff.

Funny you posted this. I started watching "An Idiot Abroad" recently and am already on the second season. Love it.

Karl seems like the type that might go for something as high control as the JWs, but more of the dharmic cultee type. His mind seems oriented toward emptying itself rather than filling itself.
