I've noticed about half my half are using these. Of course there's always the potential for people to be looking at things non jw on them. Are the society going to find a way to police this? It seems to be an area they currently don't have control over? Surely the last thing they want is half the hall playing games, writing emails and reading ebooks while at the meetings?! But could they stop it? And how?

BTW I have to confess to being one of those sneaky types myself! Well the choice is boring watchtower or fabulous new eBook.... No contest!

I don't think there is anyway to police it. I will tell u what though! I love using the halls wifi to go on apostate websites during the meetings. It's somewhat exhilarating.

Other than the microphone carriers looking over your shoulder, no one can tell what you are looking at.

Solution: never sit in an aisle seat.

Sorry this is a little off topic- my mom, who has never operated a computer, email, or smartphone in her life, mentioned the other day that she wanted a tablet. She mentioned this right after a convention. She wanted to follow the programs on it. I think this must be trending at the halls.

I would love to see if she got distracted on it :)

Are we sure that the hall WiFi does not record what sites and apps are downloaded through it?

Do you understand what "wi-fi" is?

What wi-fi have you ever used that "records" downloaded apps?

at my hall I am certain. It's just a modem/router. I don't know enough to know if there is technology you could plug into to trace all the websites. I don't think you can request that from your ISP either.

Are Kingdom Halls now set up for wireless connections? That would be an additional expense, wouldn't it?

@steve a lot of them already are but the wifi pasword is not shared yet.

@ignorance there is software that can monitor all traffic on a router

Sir82: Solution: never sit in an aisle seat.

Actually, anyone sitting behind you within a couple of seats can also see what you're perusing.

Sit all the way in the back and be aware of roaming elders/other spying eyes, that works!
