The main and crucial point is;...the new light was not an enhancement of understanding, but a complete contradiction!!

Therefore the old light was beamed up by who?....scottie!!! (Star trek )

The point is, it turn out that the holy spirit, or active force used to create the universe, nowadays is a location-based phenomenon only found at meetings and other WT functions. That's how it works lately. Not directly on individuals, but only through "the channel" and its publications and meetings. In the 1930's it was not yet understood what a useful rhetorical device it could be to get the R&F into their seats, listening and ready to obey.

So it seems as long as older publications are in agreement with new light, then they can still used for valid reasoning.

LURKER, you're right! Older publications that are still in agreement with the ideas of today are a miraculous example of the Bible Students/JWs discerning things via the HS. Older publications that are NOT still in agreement (despite that "discernment" also the result -supposedly- of the HS) doesn't mean anything. Cherry picking it is! Too bad the HS only gets shit 1/2 right.

The guidance that we receive from him is so clear that it is as if ‘our own ears hear a word behind us saying: "This is the way. Walk in it."’ (Isa. 30:21) In effect, Jesus also conveys Jehovah’s voice to us as he directs the congregation through "the faithful and discreet slave."

Ironically, the guidance from holy spirit that is allegedly "so clear" didn't let the WT know until just last year what the true identity of the faithful slave actually is (exclusively the governing body, not all anointed ones). 133 years of bad information taught as truth, but actually grade A B.S.

When did Jesus appoint his faithful and discreet slave?. According to the recent new light, it was in 1919:

Since, according to "new light" (2013 vintage), the governing body is the faithful slave, and there was no governing body in 1919, then Jesus had no one to appoint over anything. Oops. WT didn't think that one through.

Guidance from holy spirit: clear as mud.
