We know it’s not easy to be an atheist in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, for example, vocal atheism is on par with terrorism. But I didn’t realize to what extent atheists are trying to avoid detection.

Sure I would, why wouldn't you? I am an honest person, but I wouldn't feel guilty for lying in a situation like that. Of course I would recant at the earliest opportunity and would do what ever harm I could while under the Burka, maybe teach some girls to read.
