  I do think Memorial Attendance is influenced by the day of the week also. As some pointed out, for a true gauge of Memorial Attendance, historically one would need to compare with that day of the week over time, proportional to the number of ‘active’ JWs. Is that proportion going up or down for that weekday?

  Without access to the day-of-the-week, year-by-year attendances, it becomes speculation - but I remember someone actually went to the trouble of such a comparison.

  Fact is, if you consecutively roll out the year-by-year memorial attendances - completely ignoring whether it was a Sunday night or week-night - a decrease one year was always - but always - followed by an increase the following year which was greater than the two years before that.

  I don't have the attendance figures on hand, but this might illustrate it with very broad figures (for illustrative purposes only):

  2004: 50

  2005: 35 (decrease compared to 2004)

  2006: 60 (increase compared to 2004)

  This pattern of "recovered" increase within two years has now been broken - at least in the US territory.

  wifibandit, your total attendance is incorrect because the memorial attendance in Bermuda is in the 30,000s NOT 330,000s - somewhere along the way, you've accidentally added an extra digit.

  Weekend or no weekend, the table above clearly shows that the numbers are stagnant at best.

  When you consider that the number of JW publishers has increased in each of those years, the number of non-JWs attending each year is markedly decreasing.

  Thanks BlueDolphin for the last 5-years tallies! the 2014 memorial attendance in the US territory is 6,152 more than 2010 but 55,782 fewer than 2011. It will be interesting to see the attendances from other territories. I'd guess the decrease will be more evident in the "west" than in say parts of Asia, Latin America and Africa.
