I've noticed this difference before, in Western (Anglosphere) media outlets, the news is sanitised, with views of death removed. A consequence is that war is not quite real to many living in the Anglosphere. In the Chinese media, graphic showing dead bodies is more common (not everyday, but more frequently compared to anglosphere media - can't compare to other western, non-English news sources).
This series of photographs is from today's web-edition (English) of the People's Daily and illustrates the horrors of war graphically. Who is involved is not explained. Just that its in Ukraine.
My guess, considering that it seems to be current, and the combatants do not look like regular soldiers, is that it's in the Russian speaking, eastern area of Donetsk.
