    [Panic Mode]

Ok... it's official. I will loose my appartment on the 11th of next month if I can't find another job.

Anyone one know of any job openings or contracts? I do Visual Basic and Web development programming.

Elsewhere, what part of the country do you live in? Have you applied for unemployment comp?

DFW Area... Yeah, I'm on Unemployment right now. But even on that I cannot afford an apartment. [Single male with no children or dependants] = [Fall through the cracks]

I have two friends that have offered to put me up for awhile, but that can’t go on forever.

I know it's a hard choice to make, but have you thought about selling your car, and at least buying a cheaper one (for now)?

Have you tried to do "free-lance" Web design for small companies in your area? You might try visiting a few just to see what responce you get by offering to host a web site for their company for a "small fee".

I've been sending my resume out everywhere. The job market just sucks right now.

What’s worst is that I didn't get a Bachelors degree (only an Associates) thanks to my JW family. Right now most companies will not even look at me because of this. [>:(]

I already do contract/consulting for ANYONE who will have me (Just did a migration over the weekend - made a little money).

You can have my job anytime ya want it. Although, you'll have to deal w/ high schooler that don't wanna work, managers that give you all their paperwork to do, Departments heads that you think you are all knowing, customers that make me pull my hair out of my head, and the pleasantries of having half your work staff dumb dubs...It pays good though.....Please take my job, before I bring a semi-automatic machine gun to work..........

Part of your training will be to practice making the below facial expression,.at the customers....

I can understand how you feel Elsewhere, although I got my Bachelor's in C.I.S. last may, it was even hard for me to find a job until 7 months later. A degree is something but it's not everything... Even though I have a job right now I'm getting certified to become more marketable. If I were you I'd go into business for myself, doing web pages for a living (with all my knowledge about computers I've had very little experience in web design). I'd love to have your experience, and believe me, I was itching for it after college. Find a way to market yourself in some way, in the paper or elsewhere, and if you get too much business....well you can't please everyone all the time.

As for looking for jobs...the classifieds are the best way, get up as early as possible every morning when you get the paper and send as many faxes as possible (even for office, admin jobs) (I've had a miserable time with Internet job sites, just my experience). I can only tell you how I handeled my job search since it was a long and painful one. With your experience I'm sure it will be easier than all the college grads (like myself) who had the educaion but no experience...Tell me how things go....

    Preston.
