THE TRUTH is an estimate

As I was growing up in a household with my grandparents, I heard a certain phrase hundreds of times, "Well, you know what they say . . ."

And I wondered: "Who are "THEY"?

It was my first encounter with shapeless, formless, invisible, abstract, non-descript, and anonymous AUTHORITY.

    The premise seemed to say:

"There are experts who KNOW things. Their expertise, mastery and conversancy have ESTABLISHED the facts and evidence

and if THEY say something is true--it is automatically to be believed and repeated."

I think such a phrase came in handy when I was absorbed into the Watchtower Society.

It was a warm-up exercise for accepting anything/everything spoken, written and extolled from the Governing Body.

This Governing Body gives us an "estimate" of the TRUTH rather than the actual, factual, and inerrant truth.

It is a general guideline which puts your mind in the ballpark without enough concrete detail to be the last word.

The Governing Body estimates they can unclog your sewer line for $200 bucks. Of course, it ends up costing you over $1000--but--

they can enumerate all the contingencies they encountered while making the repair which caused the costs to rise and rise . . .

When you've finished the last payment, yet MORE problems occur and a new estimate appears. They blame you for believing nothing

could go wrong. After all, they are only human.

The GB digs a long ditch in your front yard and ruins your lawn and floods the garage with shit backed up into the house.

Well, what's the matter? You know what they say: SHIT HAPPENS.

    The Truth = Shit happens

You see, it's only an estimate.

The GB, Elders, COs, DOs, etc. DO NOT have any direct line to God or to the Bible. They are really all just glorified nobodies who enjoy lording it over the rank & file JWs. When they issue an edict, you are under NO obligation to believe it or live by it. They only have the power that people willingly GIVE to them. The best bet is to ignore what they say totally. Form your own opinions and your own guidelines to live by. Best bet: LEAVE the JWs completely. If that isn't possible, just refuse to discuss ANYTHING with the Elders. Just tell them: 'I am not interested in discussing the matter'. If they persist in questioning you or being nosy, just keep repeating that phrase. Don't get drawn into any discussions or debates. Period!!! This applies to any Witness who may be reading this post. I hope these ideas are helpful. Good luck!!

Does this apply to "the truth about the truth"? So is it an estimate about the truth? And another thing while my head is spinning - If there is no "Truth", then that statement cannot be true .... meaning that truth does exist? Right? Ohhh the pain of it all.

The truth about the truth is based on facts both proven facts and historical facts. When analyzing the history of the org; the constant flip flops, NGO scandal, blood, pedophilia and the list goes on and on, we left. The truth for us is: We need to get the hell out of this religion. The cost of this "estimate" became too much. This is TTATT.

Therefore, TTATT it is not an estimate. It's like if the plumber said, "The sink is going to cost you 357.29 because that's the price at Home Depot". This is not his "estimate" but a price that you could count on. The org doesnt do this. They speculate and give ideas on what they think is going to happen according to bible prophecy. It is their "estimate" and a crappy one at that.

TTATT it is not an estimate.

So, some truth does exist then. I wonder what other truths are out there?

Now that we know Quantum Mechanics and know the impossible can happen.... why in the 21st century do people use the expression 'The Truth'?

Seems power equates to tainted truth, particularly in religion.

The GB says believe in are tainted Truth and be subservient to us.

If you do we will love you, you are are brothers, if not we hate you and will try to get others to hate as well.

    .

Moral of the story, don't mess with someones power even if their power was derived from truth that was tainted.

The other truths that are"out there" will never be discovered by religious beliefs or affiliations but by scientific endeavors. Religious beliefs encrust stories by frowning upon questioning and inquiries. Science has not such hang-up with questionsds and inquiring min. The scientific hypothesis is falsifiable (framed in such a way it should be able to be disproved).
