Because God told them to....that is so true, so many other religions stood around in train station, outside, wherever. Now they doing the same thing. I think they hate other religions so much, they did all they could not to be like them...but in the long run, they are the very folks the hate. So door to door isn't effective anymore ??????

I'm not sure how I am following that she has a magazine route, placing 51 magazines but hasnt been to a meeting in over a year? I know I have been gone a long time, but?? And if she doesnt agree with so much of it anymore, how can she in good conscience be a part of distributing this crap? Just asking. Like, if someone would ask me to pass along a magazine or tract, no way could I do it!

I like this old lady!. The metropolitan witnessing thing is pointless to me. All the pioneers do is all day and some even sleep . and at the end they get to write many hours and books just to show they are doing the "greatest work" ever. Smh. Didn't Jesus say not to show your righteousness on front of people?

She tells me that her faith in Jehovah is what gets her through and that she trust HIM to read her heart.
That's the problem, Jehovah DOES read the heart. That's why this poor dear needs a Savior.

Safe at home: She hasn't been to meetings because of her health. Her first loyalty is to Jehovah. She keeps in touch with her JW friends, they drop off her magazines and record the meetings for her.
Going out in"service" is her way of serving Jehovah. She does not blame Jehovah for imperfect people's actions.
She is the sweetest person I know. She always has something kind to say to complete strangers. She refuses to shun the df brother who is married to her niece.
He helps her alot and she always appreciates it. She told me only Jehovah should judge.
She serves Jehovah first before the Org. She will just let Jehovah sort things out.
I will not take away her comfort. She has relied on the thought of Jehovah and the hope of paradise to get her through some very hard times.
She has Faith that god can read her heart and so she doesn't care what others think.
She will do what she feels is right.
I think there are alot of people her age that have the same philosophy.

Before I stopped attending Meetings, I was confused why so many of the friends suffered from anxiety, depression and panic attacks just thinking about attending the Kingdom Hall. What is it about Meetings that are causing havoc with our body and minds I wondered? One young sister said "I don't have these problems when I go to work, it's only when I attend the Kingdom Hall or force this religion down other's throats", there is a vast multitude of brothers and sisters that feel so deathly ill on Meeting Days that they end up nauseous all day with heart palpitations just thinking about attending the Kingdom Hall, why do Meetings make them anxious? Meetings are suppose to be refreshing, filled with spiritual nourishment so why do so many of the Friends get sick?
All age groups suffer, when kids in their late twenties and early thirties told me they hated attending meetings("wanted to be safe at home out of people's glaring eyes") because they hate how they feel, I tried all I could to understand what is making them feel so toxic inside? Here's my guess, like the sister's post above and her friend that get's anxious attending meetings, I have opinions why.
1. The people at the Kingdom Hall really don't care for others but this is not the big issue.
2. Brothers and Sisters are tired of being told "Your not doing enough" not directly but through sneaky stories of the One-Leg-One-Arm-One-Eyed Pioneer who work's part-time and gets Seventy Hours in Creative Field Service and does everything your not doing.
3. The World is exhausting to JWs who think it's going to end soon yet all the proof is to the contrary, JWs know things are not as bad as the Watchtower say's and they get sick of hearing this at Meetings.
4. Some JWs feel sick and guilty because they don't believe what the Governing Body and Watchtower Writing Department is teaching, they feel like hipocrites telling people to read magazines and books they themselves have never opened.

I agree BSB the the meetings are toxic to mental health, for all the reasons you have mentioned.
I suspect that herding everyone to a soul-less website will increase the feelings of social isolation
that many of the bro's are already feeling.To many, the bookstudy arrangement was the only "socialising "
they had, so when that was dropped it was the beginning of the end for any kind of "human touch".
