I think the brother assigned to buy the wine just gets anything cheap. They know that no one's likely to drink it, and in any case a partaker is only having a sip, so why not buy something crappy? I think the only rule is no additives in the wine, but I might be wrong.

Seriously, in some areas the J-dubs are so unsophisticated that they would not know a bad wine from a good one. I always heard someone took it home to drink.

You were discreet. I saw some take a swig, literally, from the bottle and pass it round ... in the main auditorium!

Even took pictures of them. Like real pirates!

Everyone turned their nose up at the "cardboard" though.
