Smurfs!! LOL!!! Don't forget 9/11.

The 6000 years of humans living on the planet came to an end in the late 1800`s according to C.T.Russell .
Then in the late 1960`s that was revised to 1975 , an appropiate time for Jesus Christ rule of a thousand years to begin.
Was it the book" Life Everlasting in Freedom Of The Sons of God "? , released about the year 1969 ?
And certainly with the dropping of the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki would have had the rank and file beleiving the end was nigh .
The Cuban missile crisis when the USSR (primarily Russia ) under Krushev was installing missiles in Cuba , and J.F.K.sent an American fleet to blockade Russia supplying equipment and supplies to Castro.
This was a time when many nations ,eg: France ,Britain , America , Russia , were conducting above ground testing of first , the Atom bomb , and then the Hydrogen bomb.
Witnesses I was associated with , were convinced the end could only be 5-10 years away at the most .
Of course they would repeat that every year.
smiddy
I remember that everyone was sure the end was near when Russia launched Sputnick in the late 1950s.
Then, of course, came the 1975 debacle, which as the Watchtower later claimed, was NEVER mentioned by them - only imagined by R&F JWs.
Some of you may not know that 1984 was also considered, for a short time, as possibly the critical year. Not only because there was a book and movie with that title, but also because ===>>> 1914 plus 70 years equals 1984!!!! Can't you see the logic?
Yes, the 1990s marked the end of the Generation that saw 1914 (later changed to "any generation" that "overlapped" those born before or during 1914).
That morphed into the Millenium (4000 years before Jesus and 2000 years after Jesus = 6000 years = 2000 A.D.). Many JWs were concerned about New Years Eve that year and also October of that year. The Watchtower remained silent, but while suggesting that there was a possibility, "no man knows the DAY or the HOUR" so it could be anytime - and just maybe 2000 was "anytime."
So now they are "celebrating 100 years" since the [failed] 1914 claim that Jesus Christ took control of his Kingdom that year. Or was it 1915? Or 1918? Or 1919?
OK - what evidence do we see at anytime over the 100 years that Jesus is somehow ruling in a way that makes our history or daily lives significantly different from the years immediately before 1914?
I've considered the possibilities - and there are some potential proofs that Jesus Christ did in fact take his throne in 1914 and changed world history. But none of those proofs have been or will be recognized by the Watchtower leaders or writing staff. Some day I might share them with you. Maybe...

I wasn't around at the time, but no doubt the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, then when AIDS swept through in the 1980's etc.
The WT will have mentioned things like these then said "when we see all these things, we know we are close", or some such.
So basically, JW's are on high alert for anything and everything to try to validate their belief that it is around the corner.
Even this past year when the WT wrote "Could this be our last memorial" everyone was saying "100 years since 1914.... Why did the WT write that..." nudge nudge, wink wink.
It's exhausting being a JW.

"The List" of... Times when JW's thought it was the end and it wasn't...
Almost too many to list, what should be realized is the WTS. has exploited world events as a means to support the assertion
that mankind was living in the " Last Days ".
This pretentious manipulation was concocted with intent to draw attention to their published works.
The Watchtower Publishing house made a hierarchically religion from exploiting occurring world events,
as well exploiting people's laboring efforts to distribute that literature to the public .
The connecting self supporting postulation that they are involved with preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, was a part of the intentional manipulation.
.
The commercialization of the WTS. core operative endeavors, tends to get over looked.
Attracting people to read the WTS. literature and instilling enough fear to promote people to distribute their literature and
turning people to their own mentally enslaved sales representatives, was the real pressing inherent agenda.
It wasn't really Jehovah's will at all but it was the will of some opportunistic men seeking their own substantiated power and control.
The Watchtower Kingdom wasn't established by God, it was established by businessmen and lawyers in suits.
