I was 20.
How old were you when baptized?

finally awake
I was 30 Way too old to fall for such nonsense. In my defense, my brain was addled from the pregnancy hormones. I started studying when I wa pregnant with my oldest, and my middle son was 3 months old when I got dunked.

I was 14. Mt father had had an affair and my mother was stuggling and it seemed logical that If I got baptized and if my parents split up, that I could help Mum with the other 3 children! On the day I was sick as a dog, and I spent most of the time before the session looking for the PO to tell him I wanted to postpone, but couldn't find him, so I was stuck and had to go through with it! Actually October the 4th 1974.... my 40th Anniversary coming up!
Took a long time to wake up, but we are nearly 10 years out!

Wasanelder Once
Not born in but born next to. My family never took hold, I was first at 16. Was raised as if they were JW's but not, very halfassed not baptized. I sealed the deal. Dumb kid! The dominoes fell after that.

I got baptized at 16 in 1973 along with my new step mother who was 8 years older than me. My father stood in the back of the hall because he was disfellowshipped for marrying the 24 year old step mother a day after his divorce from my mom was granted. He got reinstated within the year and I stood by him through all that. When he was sick with cancer back in 2012 he and my stepmother shunned me like I was poisen and wouldn't let me see him once. He died never speaking a word to me because I dared to leave the religion I basically was born in and got baptized in as a Kid.

Bruja-del-Sol
3rd generation born in, dunked age 16 because my dad sent my worldly boyfriend away and I felt that by getting baptized I didn't lose my love for nothing. Another reason was that most of the kids my age would be baptized that same assembly, so I hoped that they would finally accept me... but they didn't. A year and a half later, age 18, I was married to an elder's son, finally away from home.
The most idiotic thing my dad said after I got divorced and DF'd at age 33: "I can understand that when you get married at such young age, it's possible you've made a wrong choice and want to change it. But I cannot understand that you've left Jehovah".... I was even younger when I got dunked, why can't it be possible to rethink such a decision made at a way too young age???
Like Oubliette always says: "Let's review: It's a cult!"
It had a happy ending after all, since I found my long lost boyfriend after nearly 18 years and we're happily married now

Yes indeed Bruja-del-Sol! Great observation!
Ones who get married too young are citisized as being immature etc...But ones who get baptised young are praised!
Makes NO SENSE at all!
