We are responding the announcement by Ashya King's father that he will allow

blood transfusion if medically necessary. Those not familiar with the story can

    read it here:

Please do what you can to circulate or distribute this to as many individuals

and news outlets as possible. We believe it is a newsworthy development

that places the Watchtower Society in a very difficult spot. These kinds of

situations don't come along everyday and it can be effectively leveraged to

reach other JW parents who have children that are vulnerable to this bizarre

    policy.

Agreed. It would be any PR department's worst nightmare. A loving father wants the best medical care for his son and is willing to put his trust in medical professionals who abide by strict ethical codes. The organization will have to tred very carefully indeed.

Where in the article does it say he will allow his son a blood transfusion? I haven't found that in the article. I see it in the headlines without quotations. It has been implied but not said as far as I can tell. Yes, I can read between the lines but isn't that an assumption?

Sadly there is a very young, ill boy at the bottom of this. I would rather see less publicity rather than more.

" The eldest of the Kings’ sons, Danny...
"When they operated on him two months ago, we agreed to them doing blood transfusions but thankfully it wasn't necessary. "

    ....

" King, who is a Jehovah's Witness, also dispelled concerns expressed by Czech doctors over a possible blood transfusion for Ashya, telling AFP he would not object on religious grounds.
"It's not for a parent to decide this, the hospital staff will decide," he said. "

    .....

Okay? Now that we are sure, can someone please suggest this story to the BBC? They can investigate for themselves anyway..
