Crazy Sounding Story

  Last Sunday after sitting through the CA an eldurr whom I know related this story about the Warwick compound construction, as related to him by someone who had just returned from their tour of duty.

  "The property is over-run with rattlesnakes. So there are assigned brothers who catch and release them off property. They won't kill them. They are also in the process of building a 'special wall' around the entire property to 'keep snakes out'."

  Now it seems to me that this story doesn't quite have the "ring of truth" to it. I personally believe that any wall being built is for some other reason than to simply keep out 'rattlesnakes'.

  What are your thoughts/comments? Anyone been there that can verify that the rattlesnake story is actually true?

  I'd sure love to be the brother that shows up at Warwick to help and gets handed a net: "Congratulations, you're our new rattlesnake catcher until Brother Hapless gets out of the hospital."

  Well, what cult compound would be complete without a wall to "keep snakes out?"

  This much is very true.....the JW Warwick compound is FULL OF SNAKES.

  Doesn't sound quite right though...are there that many rattlesnakes in upstate New York?

  It's really to keep Truth out, can't have that in there.

  What would be great would be if they unearthed an ancient Native American Site of great historical interest, that could put the kybosh on the whole idea of a Cult Compound.

  Academics all over it, the site protected, and eventually a Visitor Centre for all those horrrible worldly peeps right in the middle of their Compound.

  Timber rattlesnakes exist in New York state, mostly in the southeast, but are listed as "Threatened" by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.

  This government document http://www.townofwarwick.org/departments/seqr_docs/watchtower_final_findings_statement_080112.pdf mentions Timber Rattlesnakes are located throughout the area but also states there are no dens known on the WT site.

  The document also mentions fencing but it appears to be only required for vegetation removal, clearing, grubbing and grading operations occuring during certain times of the year.

  Since the snakes are prevalent in the area, this seems to suggest that some snakes maybe present but as no known dens are believed to be on the site, this seems to contradict the story that the property is over-run.

  This WT document http://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/united-states/jehovahs-witnesses-warwick-ny-construction stated in 2013 that an errosion control barrier is to be installed which would ALSO provide a perimeter of protection for wildlife including Timber Rattlesnakes.

  As errosion control is the primary purpose for the barrier, protection of wildlife is an added benefit.
