Do the Governing Body believe their own teachings or know it's a lie? Are they atheists?

I don't think the GB truly believe in the power of holy spirit because they vote and change things if there is a 2/3 majority. That is relying on their own man made descisions, if they relied on God they wouldn't vote. They enjoy their life style and try and convince themselves it's Jehovah's blessing.

With the amount of letters wirtten to all the Bethels around the world there is no way the GB think it's all real, no way.

I have always been slightly divided on this very issue. I think that most male members on their way up the ladder actually believe all the b.s..

When they arrive at the Governing Body, they must be reeducated much more so than the likes of Ray Franz was, so there is no new book revealing how it's done. But I imagine they have a basic way of telling someone that decisions made by "us" are guided by Spirit. Everybody probably gets a Ray Franz lesson and hears that he was poor and friendless and devastated when he left and allowed Satan to influence his life. I believe most every one of them sees through that b.s. but does not necessarily think the other GB members see it the way he does. In other words, each member knows much or all of it is b.s. but won't say so because he isn't sure the others see it that way. He then stays quiet and casts his votes and shares his opinions based on what seems best for the salvation of the organization.

Knowing it's b.s. and arriving at not believing in God would be a huge jump. It is possible that I have overstated above- perhaps their reeducation convinces some that Jehovah is using the other 11 guys (or whatever number they are/were on) and that the single member doesn't quite feel the Holy Spirit the way the others say they do, but is still afraid to say so. In that case, the same result- he stays quiet and casts his votes and shares his opinions based on what seems best for the salvation of the organization.

Nobody will speak up because they made it to the Ivory Tower top floor and they know what they will have if they walk out. Maybe one will break ranks in the future for a huge scandal and sell out to the tabloid news or to Hollywood. That's my dream.

Good point Kate, and is what I was referring to with what a new appointee would see when actually in such a Meeting.

Surely, if Holy Spirit is guiding two thirds of them, it could guide the rest to the same conclusion ?

It comes down to those guys needing to ask themselves the same question I asked when about 11 years old "The Holy Spirit doesn't play tricks does it ?"

My father had to waffle round that one, to explain a bit of Noo Lite that had just appeared. Of course, that very same same Noo Lite has been replaced a dozen times since then.

I've actually pondered this very question for some time. I've come to the conclusion that there are some that feel it is BS, a few who do not agree with all of the teachings and maybe a few that actually believe they are God's gift to men. Let me go into a little more details.

The reason I think some if not most think this is complete BS is because you do not get that high up in any organization without thinking outside the box and careful planning and goal setting. These men are not dumb and they do not follow their teaching of "thinking inside the box only". Think about this too, we know maybe 10-20% of all of the WT secrets and dark history, these men most likely have had access to it all and have been told it all. Knowing what little we know about their dark history and the darkness that goes on inside turned us off, can you image believing it is the truth knowing everything? I highly doubt it...

Now, my reason for some not believing in all the teachings is as follows. Franz made a comment in his book that even if individuals did not agree with the current understanding they had to be "in union" and only bring out the current teachings in their talks. They set an example out of those who did not follow this. I'm sure many disagreed with the generation change, the internet, 1914 I can't even imagine any of them believing that etc... Remember, there are those on the GB that probably did not vote in favor of those teachings and have to act as if they believe them just as in Franz day.

Last but not least are those who may believe 100%. I find this one hard to believe. These men are thinkers and I can only imagine the thought and ways they came up with to make the "generation" term fit to their teachings vs what the bible says. I would be very surprised if there were those on the board that had 0 doubt. You would have to be naive to not question a thing at that level.

Just my 2 cents, at the end of the day we all sh** on a toilet and it's no different with those men.

To make this even more interesting, how many of you think they actually believe in 1914? haha

I got to being an elder and then it hit me: "It's a cult!" so as depressedsoul suggests, why wouldn't the GB know at least something by now?

I am sure these family destroying scumbags DO know and don't give a monkeys.

    I share OnTheWayOut's sentiment

I think they honestly and sincerely believe Jah is running the Org. But when they get in the top seat, they can't help but feel a sense of dissappointment with reality.

Certainly any JW on the planet would imagine all sorts of divine direction and "guidance" from Jehovah amongst the GB. But once they get there, they're busy consulting the Legal Dept. about what they can and can't do in a situation, and consulting a research team about what they currently teach in print on a complicated subject and then directing another team to figure out a way to transition their old light into their end product new light.

There must be a sense of "business" when making the big decisions. The lack of "spiritual guidance" from Jah must be present. the feeling, the knowing that THEY are making a decision that will have consequences must make them feel like they are doing this on their own without Jehovah

I would imagine there are some among the GB that long for the old days of warm fuzzy ignorance to the reality of running a major corporation.

Another reason I know they know its complete BS:

A friend of mine said he was talking to a member and they told him they can feel god's spirit moving and directing them during their meetings. I flag went off in my head when he said that. They know it's 100% bs and making a statement like that proves it.

Its amusing when a Christian accuses the Wt. of dispensing false teachings. What is the correct 100% unadultered Christian teaching hummmm.?

@designs, we won't know until Jesus comes again and tells us fully how he wants to be followed. The bible in it's current state can be taken way too many different ways for any resonable god to hold a humans life to it.

I will be more then happy to follow Jesus and God 100% to the T when they are willing to show us how.
