FB has been enforcing real identity for some time, mainly to protect their advertising revenue.
YouTube is owned by Google, and as we can tell you can use any user name that you want.
The idea that they want elduhs trolling throught FB accounts reviewing apostate information is laughable, the first and most dangerous problem is that they will start to think! Can the WT afford to have 20-30% of their unpaid management team quit? No way.
I hope it is true. It would be great if elders started looking at opposing view for a few hours a week.

I've had an anon fb for years. Still do. Never had a problem. I use it mainly for posting on BS jw fb sites and recking havoc with their simple beliefs. It's good fun watching them get ticked off when I befuddle their minds. lolz I dunno, maybe FB thinks its my real name LOL which is obviously is not.
It's also usefull for posting comments on porn and dating sites hehehe :D :$
Sorry londo, absolutly no word about this to local elders so far. I would chalk this up to roumou mill fodder
..taking a risk expecting elders etc to visit dubious sites.....may awaken some..
I guarantee Facebook is not making a single business decision, exceptions or otherwise, based on (or specifically for the benefit of) the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

This comes from an email from a ‘source’, who talked with folks he knew in Patterson. So this is definitely secondhand information. Of course, even Bethel is rife with rumors and gossip, as is the JW world in general.
I do know the creator of Facebook, Zuckerburg, came out against being anonymous on Facebook. Of course, a billionaire who has everything likely cannot relate as to why people would have a need to screen their identity.
THe part about the elders checking out YouTube and Facebook to see who's talking negatively about the Borg will be a collosal waste of time.
I'm sure some apostates out there use their real names but then again some don't.
I myself have three different Twitter and FB accounts and a few Disqus accounts.
But maybe something good will come of it, the elders will learn TTATT while they're trying to scout out all the apostates.
A followup email I received. I’ve edited out parts that could be identifying.
They were telling me that Facebook and YouTube have had a major impact negatively on the society. He said the friends don’t realize this and they want to keep it quiet so as not to raise curiosity and cause many of the rank and file to start investigating what the commotion is all about. It is hurting them more than any lawsuit...
...He said Facebook is being used now by many jws. This has introduce them to YouTube. The society could not keep the majority from using it with all the warnings, so they realized it was just a matter of time when the jws making use of Facebook would wonder off to some apostate site just out of curiosity.
Also the society is now using circuit overseers to disseminate “important secretive” information to the body of elders instead of official letter writing. The society is recognizing that there are too many apostate elders who will leak information over the internet.
So they are restricting certain secretive information so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. They are also encouraging elders to regularly visit Facebook sites and YouTube sites and calling it shepherding calls and can even count some time as field service. Not sure up to how many hours will count for field service. But it was mention that one elder assigned can count up to one hour a week. And they can rotate elders every CO Visit. Publishers have no idea this is happening...
...Evidently the new CO arrangement was made with that purpose in mind. More control of information. So this is something that has been in the works for a long time. It was something that had been planned a couple of years ago. They for saw it.
The society knew that the internet boom would cause them trouble so they had been taking counter measures to keep secrets of organization history locked away.
The Jw.org, the CO arrangement, prepping jws to view jw.org as the source of new light, and some new light that will be coming out, is no coincidence. It has been in the works for some time.
BTW the society does have a group of brothers that surf FB and YouTube daily. That is their job. It is usually die hard elders who have been in Bethel for a long time. This negative information is taken into account to determine what kinds of articles and information in conventions and assemblies will be considered...
...So the WTS is not stagnant and doing nothing. They are fighting hard and smart and using their power to sway other corporations like Facebook and YouTube to squelch truthful information. So I would imagine that at some point in the future Facebook will announce that everyone has to use their correct identity. This will frighten any jw from visiting FB or YouTube and it will expose jws who are posting negative comments, which will alert the elders in the congregations throughout the U.S.so they can start disfellowshipping.
I still call bluster and bluff.
If I am wrong, (1) I will apologize, and (2) I will rejoice, because this would be exactly the short-sighted bone-headed reaction by the WTS that would hasten their collapse.
