I found something useful the Witnesses do for society.
The witnesses hold a service once a week at the long term care facility. These patients are mostly dementia, and will never leave the facility with exceptions for doctor visits.
A good portion of these patients are very old with no visiting friends or relatives.
These are patients that are total care, they can't even feed themselves.
While I have a great deal of sympathy for the patients..
The JWs aren`nt visiting out of the kindness of their hearts..Or..
To provide Anything Meaningful to some of the Most Vulnerable..

I used to go to a senior care home with a lovely sister who would study the bible stories book with them. Yes, it was to count time. Yes she was a pioneer and needed those hours. It sure beat knocking on doors. Most people just sat there and didn't engage much. Some would say 'I am Methodist!' or something. :)
