I wouldn't say science is blowing up the bible but it is certainly blowing up the naïve understanding that certain people seem to have of it.
The bible does not say how old the Earth is or how long humans have been around.
It leaves that to the cults...

Cave paintings of this age have been found elsewhere (Spain). The significance of this finding is that, now there are two known examples of art, separated by thousands of miles, it's quite likely that the practice of making artitistic representations began even earlier.

I talked about this to an eldub once, as a genuine enquiry. The response? 'oh that's carbon dating, it's unreliable'. And as a believing brobot I acquiesced, 'of course, that's easy to reconcile '.
How amazingly biased, prejudiced, dismissive, and downright arrogant of us both, to sweep away vast swathes of scientific research and analysis with a few ignorant words. . .

This find has not been dated by the old Carbon14 method, which in any case, once adjusted was pretty accurate.
Erbie, what about the Genealogical list in the Gospels, that takes us back to "Adam son of God" ? are they now metaphorical too ? which is what Bible believers usually fall back on once the literalness of their exegesis has been shown to be silly.
