Those who write well are not necessarily good communicators.

A good communicator is a good listener who takes careful note of what others are saying and offers the validation they are seeking when and where possible.

I think I am straight and to the point. If I disagree with a point I am not shy to communicate it. I also try and have two way communication with other posters. When I first started threads I used to answer everyone individually, but now I am trying to control my post count I don't always, but apologise instead.

I think interacting with other posters is important and that's how I communicate on JWN.

I agree with Apogs' point about grammar, punctuation and spelling. I try and make sure my written communications are something I am not ashamed of, and I find it difficult to respect a posters message when there are a lot of errors in the post. The odd typo doesn't really bother me though.

If only we could have spell-check on here ! I would not have to spend so much time editing my posts, which are not perfect even then.

NHAH, keep posting anyway. You are a breath of fresh air.

I sympathise with your dyslexia problem, one of my children has it, but only mildly, even so, it makes life harder than it would have been.

Getting our ideas over is often difficult, we know what we mean, but we do not always put them in a way that others will understand.

Couple that fact with the difficulties of different cultures, and that some on here have other problems, no fault of their own, like lack of education, and some are somewhere on the autistic spectrum etc etc, JWN is an awkward place to post.

But the wonderful variety of people on here, the lovely thoughts of many of them, and the education one can gain here, make it all worthwhile.

I am not a good one for getting my point across. I always find I could have said things better.

I write from my feelings and have typos and words that arent speeled correctly (see how I did that? LOL)

I hope that those who are trying to read my words and understand will be "big" enough in spirit to overlook such petty things.

As for reading the posts of others, I try to read them with the eyes of my heart, not my Americanized grammer rules.

Apparently I am a very poor communicator, based on the way certain posters have called me out lately. I have been posting very little of late, it doesn't seem worth the bother when people are determined to pick apart everything you say.

I have a bad habit of not making enough encouraging posts. I like to post when I feel I have something to add, but if others have posted what I was thinking, I won't usually say anything. Some of the threads I find most interesting I don't post on because others have said what I'm thinking.

Poor spelling doesn't bother me unless someone is bragging about how smart and educated they are and then makes lots of grammar and spelling mistakes. I find the more I'm on here, the less sure I am about American spelling. Sometimes I really have to think about whether I should spell it 'neighbor' or 'neighbour' or whether I should spell 'organization' with a z or an s!

I honestly couldn't care less about spelling and grammar it's the idea that counts.

I have never seen it as my job to be Conan the Grammarianin such a informal setting life is too short.

if i want to use my communication skills to make money with products i dont believe in i can do this.

If i want to open my heart to people, and show them my inner heart i can also do this.

But i think communication is respecting and seeing more than that?
