When the WTBTS association with the UN & the OSCE was exposed, their own rules should have been rammed down their corrupt and lying throats!

Thank you so much for the Watchtower CD ROM. You made a HUGE rod for your own back. Enjoy the pain which it brings!

    What's good for goose..........................

    w81 9/15 p. 23 par. 15 Disfellowshiping—How to View It

".......a person might renounce his place in the Christian congregation by his actions, such as by becoming part of an organization whose objective is contrary to the Bible, and, hence, is under judgment by Jehovah God."

Agreed. It was my discovery of the UN debacle that resulted in my exit.

    I have disfellowshipped them too.

Does not Revelation say that Liars are doomed ? they lied several times over this, and even sent out a B.O.E letter telling the Elders how to lie about it.

I know the UN does many good things that are not evil. The Witnesses repeatedly asserted how evil it was. I recall the many illustrations of the UN in the WT. By their own terms, they violated their own rules. I am not certain of all the full implications but a library card is no excuse. These facts need to be repeated for newcomers. When I first came here and read that the WT had NGO status, my eyeballs popped out. I thought I was hallucinating.

The Witnesses are a new religious movement. Consistency in teaching is a hallmark of older religions. Personally, I used to love visiting the UN. I dreamed of being a female tour guide. Americans were not welcome, though. The tour guides wore nifty uniforms and looked beautiful. It is a wonderful place to view modern 1950s architecture and art b/c it was good quality in the first place and the arts people have preserved it well.

The UN as pure evil was such a basic teaching for so long I thought perhaps I was hallucinating when I first read the info. here. It made no sense but that is part of the larger problem. No common sense and no consistency. Other religions might change doctrine after hundreds of years. For the Witnesses, you would need a super computer to keep up with the changes. Is truth so malleable? If they would admit they were wrong and human, it would serve them better. Jesus did not jerk his audience around every few days the day the Witnesses do. God should not be so caught in secular time. Also, as Spock said in a relatively recent Star Trek film, "Why does God need a space/star ship?"

Disfellowshipping seems harsh. WT only wanted a library card

Let's not forget that WT is currently a member of the OSCE, the European counterpart of the UN. In fact, the OSCE's goals and objectives are so similar to the UN's they are considered one and the same. The OSCE is a self-described "politico-military" organization.

WT claims to hold NGO status in the OSCE (as it did with the UN) merely to advance "Kingdom interests", but, setting the political-military aspect aside, what WT participates in to accomplish their stated goal is nothing short of interfaith, yet another "sin" that WT categorically condemns.

    Ahem! It was Kirk.

... not that I would ever miss the more important point.

    There is no excuse.

If the WT will disfellowship a JW for joining the YMCA only to use the swimming pool, under the charge of "becoming part of an organization whose objective is contrary to the Bible", (WT considers the YMCA a "false religious organization"), then the lame explanation of becoming an NGO with the UN "to get a library card" is laughable at best.

Some time ago, I telephoned (and recorded) London Bethel anonymously and told them I was doing research on the Org's NGO status with the OSCE.

The befuddled brother I spoke to in the Public Information department couldn't think quick enough to give a plausible justification, so he asked me to call back later when I would able to speak to a brother who could answer my questions.

When I did, I was put straight to Paul Gillies whose words squirmed like a snake in a tumble dryer!

Eventually I had to terminate the conversation because he evaded answering my question directly.

He was as evasive and deceptive as as any experienced politician. Even a serving brother said P.G. just sounded like a politician, not a brother.

He knew the Org had been caught red-handed, but his MATERIAL survival and position was dependent on his being loyal to the Org - not to his alleged Leader, the Christ!

How can such ones look at themselves in the mirror and not see that they are trampling on Christ, not representing him! (Hebrews 10:29)

If Gillies has any decency in him he will eventually join us - whatever his tipping point may be. If he does not, then how he looks at himself in the mirror is for Jesus to worry about.
