Growth From jw.org?

Well, according to my mother, lots of Bible studies and newly interested ones because of the promotion of the website. It is just growing, lol.

I have no clue. It's funny their spin on things. Then I come here, and it's the opposite, congregations attendence down, and branches closing. So,which is it?

Maybe they do have some more inquiries for Bible studies. But,I would like to see if anything comes of it. I know if I was still fully in,I would still be a bit uncomfortable with it all. Maybe because it takes me longer than most to adjust to change. But,now, everyone is being made to feel bad if they don't have an Ipad for field service. And I remember just a couple years ago, they went on and on,how we don't need the latest gadgets. So,which is it?

I'm upset about those credit card machines at assemblies too. I remember in the Awake,in the Watching the World segment, they criticized the churches for doing that same thing.

I can see how my mother has to convince herself every time there is a change. I told her now that Gog,of Magog,is no longer believed to be Satan. She's like, well, that makes sense. That never made sense to me,ugh. But,probably, before I told her that, she would defend the belief he was Gog,of Magog,or whatever.

I know I'm getting off topic here. I'm just frustrated. I don't even follow too much what goes on in the organization anymore. But,for those still attending. Do you see more Bible studies being started from jw.org?

Sounds like spin to me. Typical stuff said to maintain the delusion. The JWs think their 'growth(tm)' is amazing but they haven't compared it to anything to find out that it isn't.

I'm upset about those credit card machines at assemblies too.

It's a pity JWs don't see it for what it is. It's just a big business out to make money under the pretense of religion.

I can see how my mother has to convince herself every time there is a change.

    Yup. Didn't we all!!

Yep, it all makes perfect sense to them, until the GB changes something.

Then the new bullshit makes perfect sense to them and to be honest, they always kinda thought it was that way.

    WTF?

Just because there's bible studies and newly interested ones doesn't mean there's growth. Growth can only be counted when the number of baptisms rises. In other words, when people actually get converted. It may, and probably will happen to some degree. I've seen plenty of bible studies and newly interested ones attend the KH for a few weeks, then disappear. That's not growth.

It's called cognitive dissonance baby, and it's a bitch. This is how people resolve it.

I told her now that Gog,of Magog,is no longer believed to be Satan. She's like, well, that makes sense. That never made sense to me,ugh.

Yeah, sadly funny. I would have asked her, "Well if it makes sense to you, could you explain it to me? And how long have you NOT believed it was Satan? ... So, that means then that, for all that time, you thought the WTBTS was wrong about the identity of Gog of Magog. What else do you think they're wrong about?"

    I'm sure she'd say, "Nothing."

To which you could reply, "Good. Let's mark this down for future reference. You now, as of this moment do not think the WTBTS is wrong about anything. Great, then next time they make a doctrinal change, and they most certainly will, we're going to revisit it and see how you feel then, because you will NOT be able to say, 'That makes sense,' or 'That's what I already thought,' because you just told me that you agree with everything they currently teach."

    Let's review: It's a cult!

As a result of millions of Witnesses annually spending millions of hours going from d2d preaching, spending mi££ions on car fuel, spending millions of hours standing at trollies, and pushing millions of invitations for special talks, JW.ORG, the Memorial, and conventions through letter boxes, isn't the enormously small response from the public under-whelming!

If I was a car salesman who had "interest" from hundreds of potential customers every month but only sold one car, I think I'd scrutinize my way of life!

Saturday I went to the flea market and across the street facing the parking's main gate there were 2 female JW standing by a literature cart...JWs are no longer different than the vendors who set up tables ro peddle their merchandise. Expect a great increase in reported hours and placements which is how the WT measures success.

The website still shows at around 1500 in the world according to Alexa.com

That means that numerous Porn Sites are getting more visitors, who I bet visit more pages, and stay longer, than the JW site gets.

Really obscure online newspaper editions are way above the JW site.

I simply do not believe it is having any real impact on non JW's, nor do I believe it will engender even enough growth to replace the JW's who die, let alone those who leave.

And lets face it, the quality of recruit who has wandered on to an obscure site, featuring a small strange cult, is not going to be high.

If he/she could not find what they wanted in the 1500 sites above the JW one, WTF are they looking for ?

I am not attending anymore, but I don't think there is any growth in the KH. I think many are leaving. The GB are spinning the growth IMO. Kate xx

An earlier thread reported the 2014 memorial attendances for the US and its "branch territories" which were less this year than in 2011 - 3 years ago. Some here offered explanations, the main one being that attendances are usually down if its held on a week night than on a Sunday night. That may be true up to a point - but in previous years, dips in number of attendances one year were easily eclipsed the following year. If the memorial attendances for the US and its branch territories are less thhis year than 3 years ago, that suggests a notable decline in such attendances.
