The B O E letter about returning old field min. supplies and , in particular , the future of their revisionist publishing put me in mind of my literary hero George Orwell. They said this : (dated Sept 10. 2014)

When a publication is revised, the older stock on hand is generally used first before intro- ducing the revised publication. Therefore, reducing congregation and personal supplies will allow revised publications to be introduced into the field more quickly. In this regard, we are pleased to announce that revised editions of " What Does the Bible Really Teach?" and “Keep Yourselves in God’s Love” will be released in the future. Recent adjustments related to doctrinal matters will be reflected in the revised editions. Also, material in the revised books will be updated to contain quo tations and references from the revised New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures . In view of these upcoming revisions, it would be good to give special attention to reducing the supply of the books that may be on hand.

O K they can revise the books but these are now accessable largely in digital format only, after the field ministry use is over . The record of the book is on the website library and in future c/d roms (if continued to produce these ?) Which version will be seen, not the old and new together for comparison I'll be bound !. The record will reflect the revised teachings , however they alter, and nobody will be any the wiser. Who will know what they used to preach? As happened in "Animal Farm" chapt 6

Never to have any dealings with human beings, never to engage in trade, never to make use of money--had not these been among the earliest resolutions passed at that first triumphant Meeting after Jones was expelled? All the animals remembered passing such resolutions: or at least they thought that they remembered it. ........................................... Afterwards Squealer made a round of the farm and set the animals' minds at rest. He assured them that the resolution against engaging in trade and
using money had never been passed, or even suggested. It was pure imagination, probably traceable in the beginning to lies circulated by
Snowball. A few animals still felt faintly doubtful, but Squealer asked them shrewdly, "Are you certain that this is not something that you have
dreamed, comrades? Have you any record of such a resolution? Is it written down anywhere?" And since it was certainly true that nothing of the kind
existed in writing, the animals were satisfied that they had been mistaken.

They were satisfied they had been mistaken, perhaps it had never had said that the end would come within the lives of those alive in 1914? It must another apostate lie ...perhaps ? Bumping this for the A.M. readers like me~

I dont understand one point in the letter though....

why would they want the old books placed in the ministry to make room for new ones?

Wouldnt they rather just return them and start out with new ones if they didnt want inaccurate info being studied?

That question was debated at length in the thread to which I gave the link.

I guess that they think that "We have gone and printed it so we want you to place it, to save us printing new ones" It is £ or $ at stake here. I guess they realise that 90% of placed literature never gets read and for the few that do study further, they can be taught the revised doctrine later on.

"When a publication is revised, the older stock on hand is generally used first before intro- ducing the revised publication."

If there is one quote that screams "PUBLISHING EMPIRE" it is this....If the "truth" were so important when revised, why would you knowlingly continue to disseminate information that was not "truth." Unless, of course, you were more worried about the cost of the publication than the soul of the recipient.

    Have never read the book.

Went to order it at the library.

    11 copies - 31 holds.

    Obviously still pretty popular.

    What SOP said!

If they were REALLY interested in "truth," then they would DESTROY all older publications which contain "old light" and ONLY distribute new, current publications.

    Cognitive dissonance, anyone?

The older books still have a high-enough degree of truthiness.
