Also Gill Nazroff who was head of the building program at the time and a real jerk we soon found out, told just my husband and I on our first day at Bethel to expect nothing from anyone. Gill said that he was 'so sick of people selling off everything and then running out of money and getting mad at Bethel for putting them in such a place.' Gill said 'no one made them come.' 'That Bethel even recived letters from ones who were broke with nothing and no one to help them asking Bethel why Jehoivah was not helping them.' But Gill told us 'it was not Bethel's fault nor Bethel's place to help them.'

This experience right here, really shows the "love" that Bethel and the religion have for it's followers. It proves what I have seen/witnessed/experienced myself: That money and help only flow one way in JW Land, from the wallets of the faithful to the coffers of the Org. Don't expect one single penny or piece of help from this "charitable organization." It simply does not exist. This (1) experience above proves it. They can't even treat their own volunteers with dignity or respect. It is laughable now how GB Member S. Lett is up on tv.jw.org proclaiming how much they "love" the youth, etc. What a farce!!!

One of my wifes relatives did this. They sold everything and did the borgs work instead of their own. they wasted their 30s and early 40s for the Borg. They are close to 50 now and starting over with nothing.

Did you ever sacrifce it all for a building project only to be left with nothing after your "spiritual high"?

It's called being a JW...and the experience isn't limited only to building projects.

Data-Dog - "The problem with a 'spiritual high' from the WTBTS, is that only the first one is free."

    Clever analogy.

And thats exactly why i left bethel. I was there around the same time ad LITS and saw people sent home at the drop of a hat for friviouls reasons or 'offenses' and quickly understood there was no loyalty and thus no future. I bounced first chance I got. The sad thing is i still believed it was gods organization for another ten years....

Young people know everything, old people, nothing. It's called being chastened by the harsh realities of life as you grow older and dreams of paradise don't materialize.

I recall all the young ones in the Hall where I grew up: We were insufferable know-it-alls to a last one: The end was so close, we could smell it. What we weren't going to do to advertise the kingdom! Insufferable twerps. Decades later, nothing...the smell of the end has vaporized, the zeal replaced by blunt wisdom, our bums numb from too much sitting down in the Hall and not enough action in bettering our life in the here and now and preparing for retirement.

Sometimes, the first few signs of growing up are acknowledging we just don't know but we use our uncertainty to develop patience and understanding of others - and we take personal responsbility for our wellbeing in the future. There is nothing quite so pathethic as the sound of old age regret when the evidence all around us of what's happened to others should have awakened us earlier. God, I'm glad I left playschool before my 30s.

Oh, there's still a smell...and it's coming from an 'end' alright.

My wife and I lived in poverty for about seven years for the privilge of being shuffled from place to place to pioneer and help struggling congregations. It was a total waste. I finally woke to the futility and abuse and went back to teaching.

Wow....... sad, and sick. I'm so sorry for the 'slap in the face' to those who tried so hard to help. I appreciate all that you have done.

    Anyway, Take Care.
