Not only does it steal your time from earning a living and having personal time, it also costs you real $$$ in fuel vehicle costs and maintainance

AMEN!!! I've said that many, many times. I figured that my years of pioneering cost me over a million, and that's a low, conservative estimate. That's just in time lost. I did not take into consideration the several cars I wore out and all the fuel and maintenance. I didn't figure in the time my wife spent pioneering. I didn't account for the many other things such as no retirement, no savings, etc.

Ya know, hoser, for a guy who said "goodbye" to the forum a couple months back...

...I think you've made even more intro posts since you "left" than before.

bigmac, I actually made two during my pioneer years; one became an elder. But that's certainly not typical; that's way above average. I was far more skilled than most JWs. My wife and sister are both smart, likeable, etc., and they made zero recruits while pioneering almost as long as I did.

Footnote: Both of my recruits eventually faded. I don't think they learned TTATT; I think they just lost interest.

i know my dear old mum bought in a few converts--all of them were real fruits--daft as a box of lights---or simply dazzled by the possibilty of social advancement.

True, fuel costs, winter clothing, good walking shoes and boots, that's where all my money went. Never bought casual clothes unil I left the borg, except for jeans. All my casual clothes were ex-ministry clothes that were too tatty to wear. Yuck!

And don’t forget the cost of contributing for all the literature, personal and for placing. (Of course, the WTS also gets any donations passed along from any received from those placements.) In addition, there are the personal contributions into all those contribution boxes for the local congregation, kingdom hall building fund, worldwide work (including the pedophile legal expense fund), etc. All those funds end up getting funneled worldwide to headquarters. Got to keep that ivory tower sparkly clean and in tip-top shape, which now includes their own little “Follywood” Internet TV production facilities! (I thought that up just now – “Follywood” – that’s damn funny.)

Absolutely! My personal insanity was that I took the Bible seriously, I wanted to be a footstep follower of Jesus, imitating him, in the also insane idea that Yahweh would look after me.

Do you think I was clinically insane? I think I probably was.

At least, and that was in the dollars of forty years ago. If I had that much now, I would be on top of the world.

    So I was clinically insane-smile!
