wheelwithinwheel - "However, my real point is: this summer the GB has given all faders 'a gift on a silver platter'. An easy to explain, non-doctrinal, impossible- to-disfellowship reason for leaving JWs: a deep discomfort with the 'worldly' direction the organisation is headed."

    Except...

...they ain't interested in doing us faders any favors.

The past year or so, they've been really pushing the "follow instruction even if it sounds strange or impractical" thing.

Which means, BOEs could hypothetically use any fader's issues with the Society's "Christendom"-like e-religion rebranding as an pretext to finger him/her as "brazen" or "disobedient to the slave".

I've long thought that the GB would like all the faders, fakers, and fence-sitters to just f**k off, since they know the TATT and their prescence would be regarded as a potential "security threat".

The JW.org/JWTV hype is designed to give the hard-core loyalists something new and shiny to rally around (and make it easier to be loyalists), whilst futher alienating any rank-and-filers (with half a brain or incentive to walk) who'd be understandably dismayed and "stumbled" by it all.

It's pretty slick, actually... I find myself wondering why they didn't do it sooner.

The golden calf parallel is something I have thought about them for a couple of years now. The believe and talk as though the org is jahovah.

All the current push is an updated version of the Millennial Dawn puzzles they left in hotels in the early 1900s.

Wheel, you described the experience so well iI feel like I was there. I plan to use your ideas myself. I'm constantly running into JW's around town. Can you imagine doing the Isreal bend over in the middle of the isle at Costco? Hahahahahahah!!!!

I had a fellow from the local KH hand me a jw.org pin, like he had really done something great. I looked at it, and the one he was proudly sporting on his lapel, and handed it back saying, "Thanks, but no thanks! If I wish to wear a lapel pin showing christianity I will wear a cross!"

He prompptly ran to the closest eldurr and told him what I had said. What a huh-roon! Of course the eldurr just looked at me and shook his head. They have pretty well given up on me, thank goodness!

Actually as a working cowboy, I would like to get a pin of a calf. Gold colored naturally!
